Overview

The Hilton McLean Tysons Corner is looking for a Catering Manager. Hilton McLean Tysons Corner is a 4‑Diamond hotel located in the heart of Northern Virginia's technology corridor, offering 458 guestrooms and 28,000 sq. ft. of space, including a 10,952‑sq. ft. ballroom.

Shift Pattern

Typical office hours 8:30 AM–5:00 PM with required flexibility to adjust schedules for early mornings or late evenings on all days based on client engagement events.

Responsibilities

As a Catering Manager you will:

  • Develop market segments and solicit new customer relationships.
  • Negotiate business through proposals and contracts to close business.
  • Design menus and events to maximize revenue and experience.
  • Maintain existing relationships with corporate and social accounts.
  • Foster internal customer relationships to ensure consistent, high‑level service throughout pre‑event, event, and post‑event phases.
  • Handle complex social events and direct event logistics to affected departments and teams.
  • Serve as primary contact for events, ensuring the client experience.
  • Support the Director of Catering and Events as needed.

Essential Functions

  • Organize, plan, and prioritize duties by developing plans and goals.
  • Communicate timely with internal and external clients via phone, email, written documents, or in person.
  • Create and maintain client relationships, setting and meeting expectations.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of job systems, products, and processes.
  • Resolve conflicts and negotiate with others, handling complaints and grievances.
  • Sell and influence internal and external clients.
  • Make decisions and solve problems by analyzing and evaluating issues.
  • Ensure high‑quality service, guiding and coaching others when needed.
  • Participate in customer site inspections and assist with the sales process.
  • Perform other duties as required by business needs.
  • Maintain regular attendance.

Qualifications

We look for candidates with:

  • Minimum of 2 years proven experience in catering sales and services, particularly with cultural weddings, social events, galas, and fundraisers.
  • Full availability with a flexible schedule, working any day or hour.
  • Strong strategic selling skills with ability to identify opportunities and secure new business.
  • In‑depth knowledge of banquet food and beverage operations.
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Demonstrated integrity, hospitality, leadership, teamwork, ownership, and urgency.
