Manager of Customer Service

This hybrid role brings someone directly into the day to day flow of how we build and move our beef business, working at Floating Stone Ranch Brands and alongside the parent team at Highland Feeders Ltd.. We are a small, tight group where the work is visible and connected, from the customer conversation all the way back to the animal, the cut, and the final delivery. You will take ownership of relationships, orders, and logistics, while building a clear understanding of yield, pricing, and timing, so decisions are grounded and practical. It is a role that asks for initiative and follow through, where communication and attention to detail shape how we grow, and where you will gain a full view of a vertically integrated operation that is steadily expanding across Western Canada and into export markets. This is a hybrid work environment with part of the work being done in Hairy Hill, Alberta Head Office the rest in the territory of Alberta.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and grow a portfolio of key customers, including distributors, independent retailers, butchers, and chefs across Canada and Mexico.
• Prospect and secure new accounts through targeted outreach, product presentations, and relationship-building.
• Take ownership of assigned territories and customer relationships, driving growth through initiative and entrepreneurial thinking.
• Prepare and deliver product information, pricing proposals, and sales presentations tailored to customer needs.
• Track customer preferences, forecast orders, and ensure that inventory and production align with demand.
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure customer requirements, timelines, and product quality are consistently met.
• Monitor account performance, identify opportunities for growth, and implement retention strategies.
• Serve as the primary contact for customer inquiries, service issues, and delivery coordination.
• Build long-term relationships based on trust, reliability, and responsiveness.
• Collaborate with chefs, purchasing managers, and distributors to create tailored solutions that reflect customer needs.
• Ensure post-sale follow-up, confirming satisfaction and resolving any quality or logistics concerns.
• Oversee order fulfilment and transport scheduling to ensure products arrive with the correct shelf-life and temperature control.
• Work directly with cold storage partners and carriers to maintain accurate documentation and efficient delivery.
• Understand and apply just-in-time delivery principles to reduce waste and maintain product freshness.
• Track shipments and proactively communicate status updates to customers and internal teams.
• Support export coordination for Mexico-bound shipments, ensuring customs compliance and product integrity.
• Develop an in-depth understanding of the beef industry, including cattle sourcing, carcass fabrication, and grading.
• Learn how beef cuts are developed and used in different market segments — retail, foodservice, and export.
• Assist customers with product education, usage ideas, and cut applications.
• Keep current on market pricing, competitor activity, and seasonal industry trends.
• Maintain CRM records of sales activities, communications, and performance tracking.
• Prepare monthly reports, forecasts, and account summaries for management review.
• Participate in production and sales planning meetings to align supply with customer orders.
• Support internal communication between logistics, production, and sales departments to streamline operations.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain, business or agriculture.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in food, meat, or protein sales, customer service, or logistics coordination.
• Valid Driver’s License is required.
• Certification/Licences: None required.

Salary: $36.85 per hour

Hours: 40 hours per week
