Job Description: The Mental Health Therapist – Staff is accountable for the provision of clinical counselling services to adult outpatients as required in Mental Health and Addictions. Reporting to the Manager, the incumbent is responsible for day-to-day client service delivery.

Education

• Baccalaureate Degree in Psychology, Social Work or other Human Services degree in relation to counselling.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Knowledge of human behavior, group dynamics, how to present and explain materials, lead discussions.
• Counselling skills and knowledge base of group work and individual therapy.
• Knowledge of treating mood disorders, generalized anxiety and phobias, theory of abuse, factors leading to and perpetrating abuse.
• Knowledge of the Mental Health Services Act.
• Knowledge of case management principles.
• Knowledge in the areas of Family Violence, Depression Support, Borderline Personality Disorder, Generalized Anxiety and Phobias, etc.
• Competencies in relation to the assessment and treatment of personality and cognitive disorders.
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
• Extended periods of visual and auditory attention.
• Vigilant to potentially explosive situations.
• Travel within the Province.
• Strong computer skills with knowledge of word processing and other software.

• Registered or eligible for registration with applicable professional association in the Province of Saskatchewan.
• Valid Driver’s License.
