Position Overview
The Security Manager is responsible for implementing processes that ensure the protection of company assets, employees, and casino guests. Additionally, the Security Manager maintains and ensures compliance with the security policies and procedures.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage schedules, staffing, training, and leave requests
- Document performance reviews and disciplinary action in accordance with HR
- Support the development of a healthy internal culture and enforce company values
- Serve as a dynamic and energetic leader, fostering teamwork, employee morale, motivation, and open communication
- Possess expert knowledge of the amenities, casino promotions, and the Totem Rewards Club membership and its benefits
- Maintain a professional and positive demeanor
- Provide timely communication to employees about changes (pre-shift binder)
- Maintain the Security Procedures Manual; submit any suggested changes to the General Manager prior to implementation
- Manage site-specific tactical responses to emergencies; maintain and update procedures; administer training to casino employees; prepare evacuation checklists;
- Enforce policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with the Internal Controls Manual
- Provide a safe and injury free work environment
- Maintain communications with the Registrar of Gaming Control Representatives, local police forces, and other law enforcement and emergency service agencies
- Ensure procedures to investigate, report, and document all irregular, unusual, suspicious, or illegal activities are being done in accordance with policies and procedures
- Review and submit Daily Flash Reports; ensure accuracy and professionalism
- Ensure alarms and incidents are addressed promptly by the security team
- Monitor the daily activities and responsibilities of the Security team and ensure compliance
- Maintain and update the Trespass binders
- Ensure the security team monitor for trespassed individuals
- Ensure key and equipment inventory functions are carried out and properly logged
- Maintain an accurate inventory of all keys, radios, and other equipment in the Security Dispatch
- Assume Security Officer duties when necessary
- Possess full knowledge of the Voluntary Self Exclusion program
- Assist with removing empty or abandoned cups, bottles, and glasses from casino floor
- Adheres to NBLGC policies and procedures
- Adheres to Grey Rock Entertainment Centre internal controls, policies, and procedures as per the Security Procedures Manual
- Other duties as required and assigned
Working Conditions
- May be required to stand, sit or bend for extended periods of time
- Must be available to work a rotating shift support the Casino hours of operations (holidays and weekend included)
- Must be physically able to handle and transport materials that are over 25lbs
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
Experience & Qualifications Required
- 5+ years demonstrated Security/Surveillance experience or equivalence
- 3+ years in management experience
- Education in related field of study including law enforcement would be a definite asset
- Team-working skills
- Good computer skills
- Current certification in first aid
- Trained in self-defense and diffusing difficult situations without the use of force
- Ability to maintain calm and perform duties under stressful conditions
- Demonstrated report writing and incident investigation skills
- Expert level Fluency in ENGLISH and FRENCH (written and spoken)
