Job Purpose
The Theatre Department of Gonzaga University seeks a guest director for a fall mainstage show in our 26-27 Gonzaga Theatre season.
The position is a 3-credit adjunct contract. Expectations of the position include attendance and participation at design meetings, production meetings, auditions and callbacks; rehearsals, tech rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and performances. The successful candidate will work with the Chair of Gonzaga Theatre and a team of professional and student designers and stage managers to execute the production. A syllabus must be prepared for students. The successful candidate will be responsible for submitting midterm grades and final grades according to students meeting expectations as articulated in the syllabus for the course, THEA 261/461, a performance lab in the Department of Theatre and Dance.

Essential Functions
- Leading the artistic team in a vision that can be executed within the means of the producing departments - (Essential)
- Attending all design and production meetings; holding auditions and callbacks and casting the show in collaboration with the Artistic Director/Department Chair; scheduling and holding all necessary rehearsals - (Essential)
- Hold office hours (amount determined in consultation with Department Chair) - (Essential)
- Staging all components of the production; collaborating with the designers and Production Manager and Artistic Director/Department Chair throughout the entire production process; preparing all elements for an on-time opening - (Essential)
- Integrating the mission of Gonzaga Theatre and Gonzaga University with the subject matter of the show; fostering an appropriate educational setting while adhering to professional practices. - (Essential)

Minimum Qualifications
- M.A. (or equivalent experience) in Theatre, Acting, Directing, or similar.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness, including the ability to effectively respond to the academic needs of learners from diverse backgrounds.
- Evidence of the ability to use effective classroom strategies and pedagogies to advance equity, inclusion, and belonging.
- Professional theatre experience
