Chef's assistant

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will assist in the preparation of high-quality meals in a fast-paced kitchen environment. As an assistant chef, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our kitchen runs smoothly and efficiently, contributing to the overall dining experience of our clients.

Responsibilities

• Assist in meal preparation by chopping, slicing, and dicing ingredients as needed.
• Follow recipes and portion control guidelines to ensure consistency and quality.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including proper food storage practices.
• Adhere to food safety standards and regulations to ensure the health and safety of all staff and customers.
• Support chefs and cooks with various tasks as required, including cooking simple dishes when necessary.
• Help with inventory management by checking stock levels and reporting any shortages.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure timely service during peak hours.

Skills

• Strong understanding of food safety practices and kitchen hygiene. This is a MUST and should exceed food handlers certification!
• Experience in meal preparation within a restaurant or food service environment is preferred.
• Ability to handle food safely and efficiently, ensuring high standards of quality.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in food preparation tasks.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude and works well as a team
• Strong communication skills and a willingness to work as part of a team.
• Basic cooking skills with a passion for the food industry is a plus.
