Gogo has an opportunity that exists for an inquisitive, tech savvy, and personable Senior Technical Writer with strong communication skills to join our technical publications team. You will be an integral part in the development of technical product documentation for employees, Dealers, OEMs, and end Customers.

The Senior Technical Writer will be responsible for creating, modifying , and editing Gogo Business Aviation’s technical documentation deliverables such as Installation Manuals, Technical Bulletins, Quick Start Guides, Service Bulletins/Service Letters, and other technical or training documentation as required in electronic format. You will ensure all technical documentation is reviewed and approved by cognizant Gogo departments through our CM Agile function. This position will ensure bi-annual reviews of the technical documentation for accuracy and incorporation of temporary revisions in between these times. You will also be responsible for following the documentation plans, schedules, and priorities.

How will you make a difference?

• You will build relationships by gathering information required for aerospace/telecommunications products by interviewing technical personnel/subject matter experts
• Bring your experience to play conducting research, writing and revising technical data by normal revision or temporary revision, using engineering and other approved data from multiple sources to produce industry standard documentation
• Work with Cross Functional teams preparing or coordinating the preparation of any required illustrations and diagrams
• Show your skills using Microsoft Word, FrameMaker, and Adobe Acrobat and other standard software to produce various technical documentation
• Edit documentation via a portal interface for hosted materials and interact with vendor for addition, deletion and document control
• Define and document the technical publications process and keep it up to date

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace , Aviation , a related field or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of technical documentation experience (aerospace, telecommunications, electronics or similar technical field)
• 4-7 years of process documentation and process improvement experience

• Ability to express technical concepts in both technical and non-technical terms
• Can interface with project teams to acquire source material for documentation
• Demonstrated ability to produce high quality, professional documentation
• Excellent writing, interviewing, communication, planning and research skills
• Documentation experience focusing on technical hardware products
• Familiarity with Engineering drawings, specifications, block diagrams, graphical user interface (GUI) screens, test procedures, etc.

Preferred Skills, Talents & Experience

• Aerospace background in technical writing in engineering (avionics), manufacturing or repair station/maintenance, aircraft flight and ground operations with focus on technical documentation writing various manuals and service documentation involving system testing and troubleshooting, theory of operation, fault isolation, etc.
• Proficiency with professional graphics editing software, such as Adobe Photoshop or equivalent and PDF software
• Familiarity with aerospace industry standards and regulations (ATA, FAA, EASA, etc.)
• Strong computer, analytical, organizational, and written/oral communication skills
• Intermediate level familiarity with iSpec 2200/ATA100 guidelines
• Read, comprehend , and prepare various kinds of communication and information including emails, correspondence, reports, articles
• Demonstrated ability for creative thinking and project management

Additional Information

Base Pay :

Based on experience and responsibilities.

Target Annual Short-Term Incentive :

Bonus Plan at 10% (% of Annualized Base Pay)
