Toddler Assistant Teacher, Hoya Kids Learning Center – Georgetown University
Additional Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To
This position implements program activities under the direct supervision of Lead Teacher(s) and assists the Lead Teachers (further referred to as “Teacher” in this PD) in providing developmentally appropriate care and early education to children of Staff, Faculty, and Students of the University by:
- Creating and maintaining a safe, healthy, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children
- Conducting programs and activities that implement the emergent curriculum of the classroom.
- Developing and maintaining mutually supportive relationships with individual parents that enable both parents and teaching staff to meet each child’s individual needs,
- Monitor and Support each child’s individual development.
Work Interactions
This position reports to the Director of Hoya Kids Learning Center, with day to day guidance and direction from the classroom teacher(s) and Assistant Director. All child care center staff work with this position and report to the Director. The ability to interact with staff, families and children of Hoya Kids, and GU students is necessary for the smooth operations of the Center.
The Hoya Kids Learning Center classrooms and playgrounds are the working environments. This requires lifting of children and materials up to 40 lbs. Sight and sound supervision is required within classrooms, playgrounds, and outdoor (campus walks). Walking on campus is required. Lifting of boxes and moving furniture is required. Walking around campus almost daily with class. Ability to be active with children (music and movement activities), sit on floor, get on child’s level (by stooping, squatting, or bending). Regular exposure to communicable illnesses, and bodily fluids.
Requirements And Qualifications
- CDA or equivalent or,
- Associate degree or higher in any field or,
- 60 hours of college-level coursework in any field
- Interest in working in an environment with young children is required
- Must have strong relationship and communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team as well as independently, communicate effectively and respectfully to children, families and colleagues and show flexibility and open mindedness
- Basic computer/technology experience required.
- Experience working in a high-quality early childhood program preferred.

Pay Range
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$17.95 - $26.84
Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
