Job Description

The Role

We are seeking a Lead Ad Operations Engineer to join our Marketing Applied Sciences organization, where you will spearhead the design and development of cutting-edge, efficient, and reusable data products that drive marketing campaigns, analytics, and insights. Your expertise will be vital in handling marketing platform data, partner data feeds, and unconventional data formats to construct robust, scalable data pipelines and storage solutions.

Your responsibilities will include implementing automated quality assurance processes and validation frameworks—utilizing advanced LLM-powered agents focused on ensuring data consistency, anomaly detection, and schema integrity. These validation systems will be integrated directly into production pipelines to maintain accuracy, observability, and compliance across all marketing datasets.

In this role, you will also integrate with third-party marketing platforms and APIs, facilitate data discovery across diverse partner datasets, and create solutions that deliver reliable, trustworthy data for activation, measurement, and optimization.

What You'll Do

  • Design, develop, and enhance data pipelines for marketing and advertising datasets, including atypical or semi-structured partner formats
  • Implement effective data models, storage designs, and orchestration workflows to support campaign activation, attribution, measurement, and analytics
  • Establish and oversee automated data quality and validation frameworks leveraging LLM-based and rules-based methodologies
  • Integrate and normalize data from various marketing platforms, digital agencies, and third-party partners to ensure performance and consistency
  • Create ingestion tools for log-level data, event streams, pixel files, and other marketing-specific data formats
  • Develop and adhere to data governance standards including data lineage, schema tracking, and compliance with privacy regulations
  • Enhance operational stability through observability in pipelines, incorporating logging, monitoring, and anomaly detection
  • Collaborate with diverse teams to translate marketing data needs into scalable, production-ready engineering solutions

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline
  • 5+ years of extensive experience in data engineering, advertising technology, or marketing data engineering
  • 2+ years of direct involvement with digital advertising, marketing analytics, or activation platforms
  • Familiarity with marketing or ad tech ecosystems such as Yahoo, Google, Meta, The Trade Desk, Adobe, Salesforce, or similar platforms
  • Proficient in Python, SQL, and distributed data frameworks like PySpark
  • Practical expertise with unconventional marketing data formats, including ad server logs, event streams, and partner exports
  • Experience with modern data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, Kafka, dbt, or Airflow
  • Experience architecting solutions within cloud environments (Azure preferred; AWS/GCP acceptable)
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling, warehousing, governance, and reliability practices
  • Experience in developing automated data quality validation systems, including LLM-driven or rules-based frameworks
  • Capacity to convert complex marketing data requirements into scalable engineering solutions ready for production

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, ML Engineering, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a similar technical field
  • Experience with real-time or streaming data pipelines for marketing initiatives
  • Knowledge of Databricks Mosaic AI and LLMOps workflows
  • Understanding of multi-touch attribution, incrementality, or identity resolution datasets
  • Experience processing large-volume partner or agency data deliveries
  • Familiarity with Pseudonymous Identity services
