Job Description

Project Overview

We are a small financial services law firm seeking an experienced Python developer to build a secure internal regulatory monitoring system.

The system will:

Monitor SEC and FINRA websites for rule changes, enforcement actions, regulatory notices, and other developments

Compare new developments against our internal Written Supervisory Procedures

Generate alerts explaining how our procedures may be impacted

Suggest draft language revisions using an LLM API

Maintain logging and audit trails of system activity

This is an internal compliance tool. Confidentiality and data security are critical.

Scope of Work

The developer will design and build a prototype that includes:

  • Automated ingestion of SEC and FINRA releases via RSS or structured sources
  • Web scraping only where necessary
  • Structured storage of regulatory updates
  • API integration with an LLM provider for impact analysis
  • Prompt logging and artifact retention
  • Role based access controls
  • Secure deployment environment
  • Basic dashboard or alert interface

We are not seeking a marketing website or general app developer. This is a compliance automation project.

Required Skills

  • Strong Python experience
  • Experience with regulatory or financial data sources
  • Experience consuming RSS feeds and structured APIs
  • Experience with LLM API integration such as OpenAI
  • Secure system architecture knowledge
  • Familiarity with encryption and access controls
  • Experience deploying to Azure or secure cloud environments preferred

Highly Preferred

  • Prior work in financial services, RegTech, legal tech, or compliance automation
  • Experience with SEC EDGAR systems
  • Experience building audit logging functionality
  • Understanding of confidentiality constraints in regulated industries

Deliverables

Phase 1

Functional prototype monitoring selected SEC and FINRA sources with alert generation.

Phase 2

LLM powered impact analysis comparing updates to provided policy text.

Phase 3

Security hardening, logging, and documentation.

Contract duration of 1 to 3 months. with 30 hours per week.
