Network Engineer — BGP/IP Infrastructure Setup for Proxy Company

FreelanceJobs
CAPosted March 11, 2026

Job Description

About the Role

We run a proxy infrastructure business at serious traffic volumes. Until now we've relied entirely on third-party IP suppliers. We're done with that dependency and ready to own our own stack.

The strategy is already written.

We know what we want:

our own ASN, leased /24 blocks sourced through PeeringDB outreach, BGP running on budget colo, RPKI and IRR handled properly from day one.

We just need someone to build it.

This is an execution role, not a discovery engagement. Scope is defined. We need someone who's done this before and can move.

What You'll Do

Apply for an ARIN ASN on our behalf (we fund it)

Set up BGP sessions on a budget dedicated server (OVH or Hetzner)

Help identify small ISPs on PeeringDB with underutilized IP allocations

Configure BGP announcements for leased /24 blocks once LOAs are in hand

Set up RPKI ROAs and register route objects in IRR (RADB or ARIN IRR)

Test and verify traffic routing through our own blocks

Document the setup so our team can own it going forward

If it goes well, there's more work as we scale to 10+ /24 leases.

What We're Looking For

Hands-on BGP experience, not theoretical

Worked with ARIN or another RIR before

Understands RPKI signing and IRR registration in practice

Has spun up BGP on OVH, Hetzner, or similar

Bonus points for experience leasing IPs or working with brokers

To Apply

Three questions:

What BGP setups have you done? Provider, scale, purpose.

Have you worked with ARIN directly? ASN applications, IP transfers, RPKI?

What colo or hosting provider would you use for our first BGP-capable server and why?

Keep it short. I just need to know you've actually done this.

Contract duration of 1 to 3 months.

Mandatory skills:

Network Security
