Job Description

We're hiring a Backend Developer to help build the core infrastructure behind LaneMetric, a B2B platform focused on helping small and mid-sized logistics companies operate with the same visibility and efficiency as enterprise carriers.

LaneMetric was started after our founding team spent years working with regional freight operators, warehouse coordinators, and dispatch teams who were still relying on spreadsheets, phone calls, and disconnected legacy tools to manage critical day-to-day operations.

We saw the same pattern repeatedly:

strong businesses losing time and revenue because their systems could not provide a clear, real-time view of shipments, delays, capacity, and exceptions.

Our vision is to create a modern operations platform that gives logistics teams a single source of truth across dispatch, tracking, internal reporting, and customer updates.

Our goal is not to build software for the sake of dashboards - it's to reduce avoidable operational chaos, improve response time, and help lean teams make better decisions with less manual work.

We're looking for someone who can design and implement backend systems that are reliable, scalable, and easy to evolve as the product grows.

You'll work on:

  • Designing and building APIs to support frontend workflows across shipment tracking, reporting, account management, and operational alerts
  • Structuring databases for highvolume operational records and timesensitive status updates
  • Building authentication, authorization, and rolebased access controls for internal teams and customerfacing portals
  • Creating integrations with thirdparty systems such as carrier feeds, ERP tools, and notification services
  • Developing background jobs, queues, and eventdriven workflows for syncs, alerts, and scheduled processing
  • Improving backend performance, observability, and fault tolerance
  • Collaborating with product and frontend teams to translate operational requirements into maintainable backend architecture

Preferred Stack / Experience:

  • Strong backend experience with Node and TypeScript
  • Experience designing REST APIs and serviceoriented backend architecture
  • PostgreSQL or similar relational databases
  • Background jobs, queues, and async processing
  • Cloud infrastructure and deployment workflows
  • Experience in logistics, operations software, or other workflowheavy B2B products is a plus

What We Value:

We care about practical engineering, thoughtful system design, and building software that solves real business problems.

This is a good fit for someone who likes products with clear operational value, enjoys working close to real-world workflows, and wants to help shape a platform with long-term product vision.

Contract duration of 3 to 6 months. with 30 hours per week.

Mandatory skills:

SQLite, API, NGINX, PHP, Database Design
