Azure Data Platform Support: Data Factory Pipelines, Database Ops, APIs, Power BI

Overview

We have an Azure-hosted analytics platform powering Power BI for inventory + sales analysis (reordering, restocking, pricing insights). The system is built and live.

We're now looking for an expert-level Azure freelancer for a long-term maintenance contract on a monthly retainer (set hours per month).

The goal is to ensure the platform stays healthy and reliable. If monthly hours aren't fully used on maintenance/troubleshooting, the remaining time can be applied toward agreed upgrades and improvements.

Engagement Model:

We want to agree on a set number of hours per month (retainer).

Priority use of hours:

Maintenance + monitoring

Troubleshooting + incident response

If hours remain:

planned upgrades (backlog items)

This is an ongoing relationship (not a one-off project).

Top priorities:

Primary:

Database management + Azure Data Factory (transformations, pipeline reliability, fixing errors quickly)

Secondary:

API/data flow management (ingestion/outbound, auth, failures, schema changes)

Tertiary:

Incremental upgrades (building a maintainable codebase, CI/CD, documentation, best practices)

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain Azure Data Factory pipelines (run failures, retries, reprocessing, dependency handling)
• Maintain and optimize the database layer (performance tuning, reliability, access controls)
• Support data integrations and APIs (auth/token refresh, rate limits, schema changes, logging)
• Improve observability: alerts, dashboards, data freshness checks, runbooks
• Implement upgrades during unused retainer hours (refactors, automation, CI/CD, codebase standards, documentation)

Required skills

• Deep experience with Azure Data Factory in production environments
• Strong database experience (Azure SQL / SQL Server / warehouse style schemas) including performance + reliability
• Experience maintaining API based data feeds and handling upstream changes safely
• Working knowledge of Power BI (dataset refresh patterns, modeling fundamentals)

Contract duration of more than 6 months. with 40 hours per week.
