position to join our expanding McIlvenna Bay team.

This is a full-time position based at the McIlvenna Bay site working a 14/14 rotation.

As part of the Underground Development Team, the Miner 1 helps build the mine’s core infrastructure, excavating tunnels, drifts, and ramps to access ore bodies and prepare for production. This role is hands-on and dynamic, involving equipment operation, ground support, and services installation. You will join a forward-thinking team working with cutting-edge technology, including our full fleet of Sandvik Battery Electric Vehicles!

Job Responsibilities:

• Excavate and tunnel to create access tunnels, drifts, and ramps using various mining equipment and techniques.
• Perform jumbo bolting and install ground support systems, including rebar, split sets, mechanical bolts, MD bolts, and screen, to reinforce tunnel stability.
• Drill and blast to create openings for mining access while ensuring precision and safety.
• Set up ventilation and services to maintain airflow, remove harmful gases, and support underground operations.
• Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe work environment for all personnel.
• Collaborate with geologists and engineers to align development with geological data and mine plans.
• Inspect and maintain mining equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Maintain accurate records of development activities, including ground support installation and blasting operations.

Job Qualifications and Skills:

• Grade 12 diploma, GED, or equivalent with 8+ years underground experience.
• 4+ years of underground mining experience.
• 1+ years jumbo bolting in an underground mine.
• Skilled in excavation, tunneling, drilling, and blasting.
• Experienced with ground support systems (bolts, mesh).
• Valid Blasting Ticket or ability to obtain.
• Strong safety focus and adherence to protocols.
• Familiar with jumbo drills, bolters, LHDs, and haul trucks.
• Physically fit to work underground in demanding conditions.

Compensation and Benefits:

$63.43 - $85.63/hr

including monthly bonus based on targets.
