Inside Sales Engineer – Industrial Flow Control

Location: Minden, NV

Department: Sales / Applications Engineering

Reports To: Inside Sales Manager or Regional Sales Manager

Position Summary

The Inside Sales Engineer supports customers, distributors, and outside sales personnel by:

  • Preparing accurate quotes
  • Providing technical recommendations
  • Coordinating order execution

This role blends technical expertise with customer service, ensuring clients receive timely, cost-effective solutions for their process applications.

Key Responsibilities

Quoting & Applications Support

  • Prepare accurate quotes for valves, actuators, accessories, and engineered equipment packages
  • Interpret specifications, P&IDs, data sheets, and technical drawings to recommend the right products
  • Select equipment based on pressure class, materials, media type, and application requirements
  • Assist customers with technical questions regarding capabilities, lead times, and certifications
  • Review application data to ensure solution compatibility with process conditions (e.g., abrasive, corrosive, or slurry media)

Order Management & Coordination

  • Enter and verify orders in ERP/CRM systems
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and supply chain to ensure on-time shipments
  • Prepare purchase requisitions for components like actuators, limit switches, and control devices
  • Keep customers informed of order status and changes

Customer Support

  • Serve as a technical point of contact for distributors, OEMs, and end users
  • Provide after-sale support: troubleshooting, installation guidance, documentation, and warranty assistance
  • Build strong relationships through responsive and accurate support

Documentation & Technical Support

  • Read and interpret technical drawings, assembly diagrams, and specification sheets
  • Provide or request engineering drawings, BOMs, and manuals as needed
  • Maintain accurate customer records, quotes, and order files in CRM/ERP systems

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with engineering on custom solutions for challenging applications
  • Support marketing with product feedback, market trends, and competitor insights
  • Assist outside sales with follow-ups, quote conversions, and strategic opportunities

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field
  • 1–3 years of experience in inside sales, applications engineering, or technical support (experience with valves, pumps, actuators, or industrial equipment preferred)
  • Ability to interpret engineering documents: P&IDs, data sheets, mechanical drawings
  • Strong understanding of valve types, actuation methods, and industrial process systems (training available)
  • Proficiency in ERP/CRM systems and MS Office Suite
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
