Art Director UX (Maternity Cover)
Montreal, QC
As Art Director UX at Float4, you will contribute to the creation of unique immersive experiences at the intersection of design, storytelling and technology, bringing interactive environments to life that captivate audiences around the world.
Please note that this is a fixed-term contract to cover a maternity leave, expected to run from early June 2026 through the end of January 2027.
The Art Director UX plays a key role within the creative team and reports directly to the Creative Director. This versatile position spans the full range of Float4 projects, including pre-rendered content, real-time content and the design of spaces and experiences.
He/she is involved in both projects and pitches, may supervise teams involved in project delivery and contribute to client relationships on creative matters, in collaboration with the production team.
Under the supervision of the Creative Director, the UX Art Director is responsible for the quality and consistency of the visual production of all project elements. He/she leads teams of designers, illustrators and motion designers, ensuring that the output aligns with the defined project strategy.
Depending on the project, he/she will work closely with the Lead CG, Lead Motion and the Interactive Director.

Mandatory Eligibility Criteria
This is a hybrid role based in Montreal, requiring on-site presence at our studio three days per week. Applicants must be currently based in Quebec and legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of application.
Applicants must also have a minimum of five years of demonstrated leadership in UX design or art direction for interactive multimedia installations, supported by a portfolio of relevant projects. Fluency in both French and English is required.

Responsibilities
- Identify project needs including deliverables, resources and timelines, in collaboration with the Creative Director and producers
- Develop and support concept development for projects and pitches
- Define and/or refine the artistic direction of assigned projects
- Design and/or enhance the user experience of assigned projects
- Write clear briefs for internal and external teams and ensure thorough follow-up
- Contribute to production when needed: graphic design, UX/UI design, brand identity, etc.
- Contribute additional expertise and perform related tasks as needed, to ensure project success and smooth team operations
- Supervise and guide multidisciplinary creative teams tailored to each project
- May lead client discussions on vision and creative decisions, ensuring clear communication through structured presentations
- Accurately interpret client feedback and revisions, adapt direction accordingly and communicate it to creative teams
- Ensure artistic consistency across projects and the quality of assigned deliverables
- Collaborate with production to ensure deliverables and timelines are met
- Support the Creative Director with internal tools, presentations, marketing materials and other needs
- Foster the well-being of team members, both internal and freelance, through inclusive, collaborative and positive leadership
- Represent Float4’s values in all interactions, whether with clients or external collaborators

Required Qualifications & Skills
- Degree in graphic design, UX, or a related field
- 5 to 7 years of experience in UX design or art direction applied to interactive projects
- Strong expertise in designing interactive experiences, including physical installations: UX architecture, user journeys and complex interactive systems
- Excellent understanding of audience behaviour, usability, accessibility and engagement strategies
- Ability to translate a creative vision into coherent UX experiences aligning storytelling, interaction and art direction
- Proficiency with design and prototyping tools (Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator)
