ABOUT FNMHF The First Nations Market Housing Fund (the “Fund”) is a national not-for-profit Trust established in 2008 to support access to loan-based housing programs in First Nations communities and build long-term housing capacity. Led by a board of 9 Indigenous Trustees, the Fund’s head office is located ‘on-reserve’ in the Mohawk Territory of Akwesasne, with a satellite office in Ottawa, ON.

POSITION SUMMARY The
HR Associate
provides administrative and coordination support across core Human Resource functions, including HR administration, recruitment and onboarding, and occupational health and safety. This role supports compliance with legislation and internal policies while contributing to an organized, confidential, and positive employee experience.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Respond to general HR inquiries and maintain accurate, confidential, employee records
- Support HRIS data entry and reporting (BambooHR or similar systems)
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and offboard processes
- Prepare HR reports and track training, attendance, and compliance requirements
- Coordinate Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings and maintain documentation
- Track mandatory health and safety training, incidents, and records
- Support staff engagement activities and HR initiatives
- Ensure compliance to privacy, employment standards, and occupational health and safety legislation
- Perform other duties in support of organizational objectives
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a Human Resources support or coordination role
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
- Experience supporting Health & Safety programs is an asset
- Experience working in a growing or evolving organization is an asset
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Knowledge and experience in HR policies and procedures
- Basic knowledge of employment standards and occupational health and safety legislation
- Proficient with Human Resources Information systems (HRIS), including BambooHR or similar platforms
- Knowledge of recruitment process
- Strong decision-making skills and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; including empathy and active listening
- Proficiency in software such as MS Office 365 applications, Adobe Acrobat, online Time Management Systems, and online meeting software such as Zoom and Teams
