Job Description

Overview of position:

The Cloud Engineer III serves as a senior technical lead supporting the phased migration of mission-critical systems from a legacy Centralized Enclave into an Unclassified Government Cloud environment hosted in AWS. This role is responsible for designing, sequencing, and governing infrastructure migration activities while sustaining residual enclave services through Full Operational Capability and final decommissioning.

The position operates at the intersection of cloud engineering, DevSecOps, and operational readiness, providing technical authority across planning, provisioning, testing, cutover, and post-migration sustainment. The engineer works closely with program management, cybersecurity, application teams, and Government stakeholders to enforce milestone-gated execution and risk-adjusted delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead cloud infrastructure migration planning. including application tiers, database tiers, and supporting services
  • Design and oversee Terraform-based provisioning of AWS infrastructure across production and non-production environments
  • Serve as technical authority for migration readiness artifacts, including Migration Plans, Integrated Master Schedules, Software Installation Plans, and Operations and Maintenance Manuals
  • Coordinate infrastructure readiness for RMF onboarding scans, ORR, PRR, and Government Acceptance Testing
  • Define and enforce CI/CD pipeline standards using GitLab for immutable deployments and synchronized environments
  • Oversee data migration preparation, including profiling, validation, and transformation using AWS Glue DataBrew and approved open-source tools
  • Establish and validate secure data transfer mechanisms using AWS Transfer Family and managed file transfer services
  • Lead functional and integration testing activities using automated scripts, Splunk dashboards, and sprint-based acceptance criteria
  • Manage rollback and contingency procedures, including dual-environment operations when required
  • Participate in SAFe PI Planning, backlog refinement, and dependency management with the IBS PMO
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other Engineering staff
  • Track critical path risks and technical dependencies in coordination with Program Management using Microsoft Project and Jira

Desired Qualifications and Experience

  • 8+ years of infrastructure or cloud engineering experience, including senior-level responsibility
  • Demonstrated experience operating within DoD IL5 or equivalent regulated cloud environments
  • Strong expertise in AWS infrastructure services, networking, IAM, and security controls
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
  • Proven experience supporting RMF, ATO-maintained systems, and audit-driven environments

Degree Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience

Preferred Certifications

  • AWS Solutions Architect Professional or equivalent certification

Clearance:

  • Active Secret Security Clearance is required.
  • Must be a US Citizen and pass a background check.
  • Maintain applicable security clearance(s) at the level required by the client and/or applicable certification(s) as requested by FEDITC and/or required by FEDITC’S Client(s)/Customer(s)/Prime contractor(s).
