Job Description
Family Life Services is seeking a full-time Adoption Caseworker / Social Worker to support expectant parents, adoptive families, and birth families throughout Virginia. This role combines case management, counseling, and social services with meaningful, relationship-based work in a faith-based nonprofit setting. We are seeking a friendly, personable, enthusiastic team member with a strong work ethic who can work well with different types of people from various backgrounds.
The ideal candidate is compassionate, organized, and able to manage multiple cases while providing pregnancy counseling, adoption home studies, and post-placement support. This position requires both strong interpersonal skills and the ability to handle time-sensitive situations, including occasional hospital-based support for infant placements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide pregnancy options counseling to expectant parents
- Conduct adoption home studies and assessments
- Complete supervisory visits and ongoing case management
- Provide post-adoption counseling and support services
- Maintain accurate and compliant case documentation and reports
- Build relationships with hospitals, social workers, and community partners
- Travel throughout Virginia for client visits and appointments
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Education, or related field
- Strong ability to support clients in emotional or crisis situations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple cases, deadlines, and travel schedules
- High level of confidentiality, professionalism, and attention to detail
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel independently
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in case management, social work, or family services
- Experience in adoption, foster care, pregnancy counseling, or child welfare
- Experience working with diverse populations and family systems
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint)
- Experience with case management systems or documentation platforms
- Strong organizational and administrative skills

Schedule & Travel
- Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (typical schedule, 35-40 hours/week)
- Occasional evenings and weekends for client needs and events
- Rotating on-call schedule (approximately one weekend per month)
- Travel throughout Virginia (company vehicle or reimbursed mileage)

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
