EY is a global leader in professional services, with a dedicated Government & Public Sector practice supporting ministries, agencies, municipalities and state‑owned enterprises across strategy, technology and organisational transformation. We collaborate closely across the Nordics and internationally to deliver impactful, secure and responsible change at scale. We are looking for an experienced Architect to join our Technology Strategy & Transformation practice, with a strong focus on public sector and defence‑related engagements. This is a senior role for professionals who thrive in complex, mission‑critical environments where technology, governance, regulation and security intersect. You will work closely with public authorities and defence organisations to modernise legacy landscapes, establish robust data and platform foundations, and prepare organisations for a future where data, AI and cross‑domain interoperability are increasingly central. Your key responsibilities As an Architect in Technology Strategy & Transformation, you will: Lead and design target architectures and transformation roadmaps across business, information, application and technology layers Act as a trusted architectural advisor to senior stakeholders, translating policy objectives, legislation, operational needs and security requirements into executable architectures Drive modernization of complex system landscapes, including EDW modernisation, transition to modern data platforms or lakehouse architecture, and cloud or hybrid cloud migration Use architecture as an active governance and steering tool in environments with multiple suppliers, strong compliance obligations and high assurance requirements Design and mature information architecture, including conceptual and logical data models, domain models, and principles for data ownership, quality, lineage and interoperability Ensure solutions are fit for production and sustainable over time by supporting operational and organisational maturity Contribute to defense‑oriented and security‑critical engagements, including challenges related to multi‑domain operations, interoperability, resilience and secure information sharing Collaborate closely with delivery, platform and data teams to ensure architecture is embedded in execution Contribute to EY’s AI‑driven delivery approaches, including AI‑assisted architecture design, AI‑augmented development and automated quality controls Skills and attributes for success You bring a strong architectural foundation combined with the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments. You balance strategic ambition with regulatory, operational and security constraints, and communicate complex topics clearly to executive and non‑technical audiences. Ideally, you’ll also have Experience 10+ years of experience in solution, domain or enterprise architecture, ideally within public sector, defence or other regulated environments Proven experience with modernization of data platforms and legacy landscapes Strong experience using architecture as a governance and steering mechanism in complex, multi‑supplier environments Solid understanding of information architecture, data governance, quality, lineage and interoperability Strong knowledge of modern software, platform and cloud architectures (Azure, AWS and/or GCP) A strong interest in AI‑driven architecture and next‑generation delivery models Formal certifications (e.g. TOGAF or cloud certifications) are beneficial, but experience, judgement and credibility matter most.
