Our Government & Public Sector (GPS) practice provides a comprehensive range of consulting and audit services to assist Federal, State, Local, and Education clients in implementing innovative ideas that drive mission success. In this role as a Cyber Security Engineer, you will be an integral part of our Security Engineering & Operations team, leading multi-functional security technology initiatives for our Government and Public Sector clients. Collaborating closely with internal teams, you will ensure the security, reliability, and compliance of our systems while focusing on operational excellence and technology advancements.

Your key responsibilities include:

• Ensuring the optimal operation of our security technologies and supporting their continued functionality.
• Bringing your operational expertise to the forefront as we introduce and upgrade security technologies.
• Providing technical oversight and ensuring compliance with service levels across security technologies.
• Managing planned maintenance activities and responding effectively to incidents.
• Leading specific project activities, guiding the work of others towards successful completion.
• Communicating technical issues and concerns transparently to technology leaders.
• Contributing to a team culture that values proactive problem-solving and high accountability.
• This role is primarily remote, with occasional weekend and off-hours work required, as well as participation in a rotational on-call schedule.

Skills and attributes for success:

• Experience in operational environments consisting of over 3000 users.
• Adept at detailed troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong documentation skills to clearly articulate processes, procedures, and security controls.
• Ability to work efficiently in a remote, global environment.
• Composed communication skills during stressful situations, especially with senior leadership.
• Proven problem-solving and collaboration capabilities.
• Proficiency in various security technologies and concepts, especially Azure operations, EDR, DLP, and encryption technologies.

To qualify for the role, you should have:

• A Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field or commensurate work experience.
• At least 5 years of expertise in managing Information Systems and Security.
• Proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal.
• Experience in training and coaching staff in technical practices.
• Extensive experience with Microsoft and Azure security services including Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Defender, and Microsoft Intune.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance.

Ideally, you will also have:

• Experience with cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, and GCP.
• Advanced troubleshooting skills for cloud environments.
• Familiarity with frameworks such as FedRAMP and NIST SP 800-53.
• Certifications in relevant security areas, such as GSEC or CISSP.
