Role Overview
Exact Machine Service is hiring experienced Senior‑ and Master‑level CNC Machinists. This position supports high‑priority military programs requiring precision, creativity, and the ability to manufacture complex, one‑off hardware.
Machinists in this role are expected to take ownership of jobs from concept to completion, applying advanced machining expertise to experimental and prototype systems while working closely with engineers, customers, and fellow machinists.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop, program, set up, and run 3‑axis and 5‑axis CNC mills and CNC lathes, with periodic use of conventional machine tools.
- Produce custom, non‑production components and experimental hardware in support of NAWCAD WOLF projects.
- Apply GD&T standards to ensure parts are manufactured precisely to engineering drawings.
- Review and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, test plans, and aviation publications.
- Partner directly with customers and engineers to clarify requirements, determine machining strategies, and meet project schedules.
- Use and maintain proficiency in CAD/CAM software such as GibbsCAM, supported by company training.
- Build unconventional test articles and prototype assemblies for research and development efforts.
- Conduct pre‑operation inspections and report equipment issues to maintenance personnel.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and manage tooling, consumables, and equipment inventories.
- Provide mentorship and hands‑on training to junior machinists and shop personnel.
- Maintain an orderly, efficient, and safety‑compliant shop environment.
- Comply with all safety regulations and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Perform other duties as necessary to meet program and customer needs.
Work Setting & Physical Demands
- Work is performed primarily in an active machine shop environment with elevated noise levels.
- PPE, including hearing protection, must be worn as required.
- Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds unassisted.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a formal trade school, military technical training, or college machining program is strongly preferred.
- At least 10 years of CNC machining experience.
- Demonstrated experience with both CNC and conventional machining equipment.
- Working knowledge of GibbsCAM or similar CAD/CAM software.
- Proficiency in milling, turning, grinding, and plating processes.
- Strong understanding of metals and materials including carbon steel, aluminum, tool steel, stainless steel, composites, and fiberglass.
- Ability to perform machinist‑level math and accurately use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, tape measures, etc.).
- Capability and willingness to train and guide fellow employees.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and eligibility for coverage under the company vehicle insurance policy.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to start and maintain it throughout employment.
- Must successfully complete background screening, including SSN trace, motor vehicle record, and criminal background check.

Pay: $45.00 - $55.00 per hour
