Job Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Server Administration
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server and Linux-based servers across plant and corporate environments.
- Manage Active Directory (AD) including user accounts, group policies, OUs, and access permissions.
- Administer DNS, DHCP, and other core network services to ensure high availability and performance.
- Monitor server health, resource utilization, and system logs; proactively address alerts and issues.
- Apply OS patches, security updates, and hotfixes in accordance with the change management policy.
Network Maintenance
- Maintain and troubleshoot LAN/WAN infrastructure including switches, routers, and structured cabling.
- Configure and manage VPN solutions for secure remote access by employees and third parties.
- Administer Firewalls and implement network security policies, access control lists, and traffic filtering rules.
- Monitor network performance, bandwidth utilization, and uptime; respond to outages and escalations.
- Coordinate with ISPs and network vendors for circuit provisioning, fault resolution, and SLA adherence.
Virtualization Support
- Support and administer virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, or equivalent.
- Create, configure, and manage virtual machines (VMs), snapshots, and resource allocations.
- Assist in capacity planning and optimization of virtualized environments to ensure efficient resource usage.
- Troubleshoot virtual machine and hypervisor-level issues in coordination with senior IT team members.
Backup & Disaster Recovery
- Design, implement, and manage backup procedures for servers, databases, and critical business data.
- Perform periodic backup testing and restore drills to validate data integrity and recovery readiness.
- Maintain and document disaster recovery (DR) plans and ensure alignment with business continuity objectives.
- Monitor backup job completion, investigate failures, and escalate unresolved issues promptly.
General IT Support & Administration
- Maintain up-to-date IT asset inventory including hardware, software licenses, and configuration records.
- Provide Level 2 support for infrastructure-related issues escalated from the helpdesk team.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation including SOPs, network diagrams, and runbooks.
- Ensure IT infrastructure compliance with internal security policies and industry best practices.
- Coordinate with vendors for procurement, AMC renewals, and hardware/software support.
REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Hands-on experience with Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) and Linux (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu).
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy management.
- Practical experience with VPN technologies (Site-to-Site, SSL VPN) and Firewall administration.
- Familiarity with virtualization platforms – VMware vSphere / ESXi or Microsoft Hyper-V.
- Knowledge of backup tools such as Veeam, Acronis, or similar enterprise backup solutions.
- Understanding of TCP/IP networking, OSI model, VLANs, and routing protocols.
- Good analytical and troubleshooting skills with a structured approach to problem resolution.
- Ability to document technical processes clearly and maintain system records.
- Certifications such as MCSA, CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or VMware VCP are an added advantage.
