Job Description

Lead pivotal fisheries initiatives with ERM as a Senior Fisheries Biologist. This role combines technical expertise and strategic oversight in Canada’s complex mining and energy projects.

As a Principal Technical Consultant, you will provide senior leadership on impactful capital projects at ERM’s western Canadian offices in Vancouver, Calgary, Whitehorse, or Smithers. Your responsibilities will include guiding fisheries assessments, managing habitat programs, and collaborating with clients on offsetting strategies. You'll also enhance the capabilities of junior staff through mentorship and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead fisheries and aquatic programs for major capital projects
  • Provide technical oversight to ensure quality compliance
  • Act as an advisor on fisheries biology and habitat management
  • Mentor junior team members to strengthen fisheries expertise
  • Oversee freshwater ecosystem field programs and assessments

Requirements

  • B.Sc. in Fisheries Biology or related field
  • 6+ years in environmental consulting
  • Field experience in fish habitat assessment
  • Strong knowledge of regulations in mining and oil & gas
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
