Senior Civil/Structural Engineer – Nuclear (Remote | Illinois SE Required)

Position Overview
This role is responsible for the design, analysis, and verification of safety-related and non-safety-related structures and components within nuclear facilities. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in structural engineering for nuclear applications, including seismic qualification, heavy load analysis, and design verification.
You will play a key role in executing and reviewing engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with nuclear regulatory standards, and supporting high-impact infrastructure upgrades and modifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural design and analysis for reinforced concrete, structural steel, and complex equipment support structures within nuclear power plants
- Execute seismic analysis using response spectra methods, including qualification of safety-related systems and components
- Develop and maintain 3D finite element models for structural evaluation using industry-standard FEA tools
- Prepare and review engineering calculations, specifications, and design documentation in accordance with Appendix B QA requirements
- Conduct design verification activities, including independent reviews and approvals of engineering deliverables
- Support conceptual design studies, cost estimates, and constructability assessments
- Interface with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, and regulatory stakeholders
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois Structural Engineer (SE) License – REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- 5+ years of experience in civil/structural design, with significant experience in commercial nuclear projects
- Demonstrated experience working under 10 CFR 50 Appendix B QA programs
- Prior design verification qualification/certification on nuclear projects
- Strong proficiency in Mathcad (Mathcad Prime required for senior level)
- Hands-on experience with GTSTRUDL
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools (ANSYS, SAP2000, STAAD, or similar)
- Strong understanding of seismic design and analysis methodologies
