Position Summary  The Senior Mainframe Systems Programmer provides support for on-going projects that require the installation, testing, and implementation of new z/OS operating systems and other 'system' software. Includes: Maintenance and debugging of systems software, Coordination with other technical teams (CICS, Database, Network, Hardware/Storage, etc) in accomplishing assigned tasks, Research and evaluation of new software and hardware products, Assisting team members and other areas with technical questions and problem resolution, Monitoring and tuning of systems software, Functional knowledge, use of z/OS components and detailed knowledge of support products such as tape management, scheduling, security, monitoring systems, and other z/OS supporting systems software. Note: This is not an Applications Programming position.  Position reports to Manager, Mainframe Systems Programming.  Key Areas of Focus for this Role  <ul><li>Installation and maintenance of Mainframe Systems Infrastructure software (including z/OS and/or ISV products) in support of Software Lifecycle Management </li></ul><ul><li>Incident / Problem resolution </li></ul> z/OS & Tools your main tasks are related to:  <ul><li>Incident, change and problem handling.  </li></ul><ul><li>Configuration and customization.  </li></ul><ul><li>Setup of parameters.  </li></ul><ul><li>Communication with vendors.  </li></ul><ul><li>Participation/contribution to technical projects.  </li></ul><ul><li>In depth knowledge and understanding of z/OS and related product software z/OS.  </li></ul><ul><li>PARMLIB configuration and JES2 customization. </li></ul><ul><li>Ability to support in solving problems and implementing changes on z/OS environments. </li></ul><ul><li>Advanced knowledge of TSO/ISPF, SDSF, JCL. </li></ul><ul><li>Excellent written and verbal skills. </li></ul><ul><li>Ability to take the lead in problem solving and coordination of multi-disciplinary groups. </li></ul><ul><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. </li></ul>   What the Ideal Candidate Brings to this Role Required Qualifications help to assure new Associates are set up for success in their role with Ensono. Candidates that may meet some, but not all, Other Qualifications are still encouraged to apply. Required Qualifications <ul><li>Minimum of 10+ years of experience within a mainframe environment within a large enterprise  </li></ul><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree required and/or equivalent work experience </li></ul><ul><li>Knowledge and understanding of z/OS and z/OS installation and maintenance including SMP/E. </li></ul><ul><li>Advanced knowledge of TSO/ISPF, SDSF, JCL. </li></ul><ul><li>Advanced knowledge of Unix System Services (USS) </li></ul><ul><li>Advanced knowledge of Unix System Services (USS) file system management and security </li></ul><ul><li>Experience installing software within Unix System Services (USS) </li></ul><ul><li>Ability to work well as a team member.  </li></ul><ul><li>Stress resistant in case of Major Incident- and/or emergency situations.  </li></ul><ul><li>Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills </li></ul><ul><li>Customer Service skills at management level </li></ul><ul><li>Strong collaboration and teamwork skills </li></ul><ul><li>Must be self-motivated and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.  </li></ul><ul><li>Strong communication skills to liaise with cross-functional teams as well as provide guidance to junior team members. </li></ul><ul><li>Methodical and disciplined approach to work. </li></ul><ul><li>Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities.  </li></ul><ul><li>Good planning and organizational skills.  </li></ul><ul><li>Initiative and good learning abilities.  </li></ul><ul><li> </li></ul>Other Qualifications <ul><li>Ability to perform skill set of a Mainframe System Programmer  </li></ul><ul><li>Ability to perform complex ISV installations  </li></ul><ul><li>Ability to perform and lead complex projects  </li></ul><ul><li>Ability to mentor and show leadership qualities </li></ul><ul><li>Knowledgeable in z/OS security. </li></ul><ul><li>Knowledgeable in z/OS systems programming functions. </li></ul><ul><li>Knowledgeable in DB2, CICS or IMS. </li></ul><ul><li>Understand z/OS services structure, Parallel Sysplex, Catalog management. </li></ul>   Why <a target="_blank" href="https://www.ensono.com/company/culture/">Ensono</a>? Ensono is a place to make better happen – for our clients and for your career. Please note that placement in the range may vary based on numerous factors including but not limited to skills, experience, internal equity, and business needs.
