Job Description

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited University;
  • Four to five (4 - 5) years' experience in the land development industry;
  • EIT is required; Professional Engineer (PE) license in Maryland preferred
  • Must have a good working knowledge of local jurisdiction standards which includes, Prince George's County and Montgomery County, Howard County, Charles County, Anne Arundel County, Baltimore County.
  • Ability to prepare plans, specifications and cost estimates;
  • Experience as a design engineer supporting mid to large sized civil projects;
  • Strong communication skills with ability to communicate clearly and effectively with supervisors and design team members;
  • Ability to work on multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced team oriented environment;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook;
  • Familiarity with using AutoCAD including Civil 3D software;
  • Excellent technical writing skills;
  • Drive to grow and take on additional responsibilities

  • Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Maryland preferred/ required?

Responsibilities

  • Work with senior level engineers, clients and agencies, subcontractors, and design teams on complex engineering projects;
  • Serve as a lead/resource among team of colleagues in equivalent roles to share technical proficiency, guidance, and mentorship;
  • Develop construction documents, expedite permits, and support the Manager on all phases of engineering services under the guidance of the Project Manager;
  • Provide technical assistance in the resolution of design problems that may include performing field investigations or inspections, and detailed design work and calculations;
  • Assist with preparation of construction documents, design of site and infrastructure improvements including grading, dry and wet utilities, erosion control, and storm water management; road design, water and sewer design.
  • Plan, schedule, conduct, and/or coordinate detailed phases of assigned project work;
  • Conduct constructability reviews or assist in the designing, planning, reviewing of civil engineering projects;
  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion on a regular or frequent basis
