The Clinical Director is responsible for the oversight, direction, and integrity of all clinical operations within our substance use disorder (SUD) treatment program. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, person-centered, and evidence-based care while maintaining full compliance with Maryland state regulations, accreditation standards, and payer requirements.
The Clinical
Director will provide strategic leadership, supervise clinical staff, and work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal outcomes for individuals receiving services.
Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Oversight
- Provide direct oversight of all clinical services, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practices such as ASAM Criteria–guided assessment and treatment planning.
- Develop, implement, and revise clinical policies, procedures, protocols, and workflows to maintain compliance with state and federal regulations.
Staff Supervision & Development
- Supervise, mentor, and support clinical staff, including counselors, therapists, case managers, and interns.
- Provide clinical supervision toward licensure (if applicable) and ensure staff competency through coaching, training, and performance evaluations.
- Foster a collaborative, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive work environment.
Program Operations
- Oversee key clinical functions such as intake, assessment, treatment planning, care coordination, progress reviews, and discharge planning.
- Ensure documentation meets regulatory standards, payer guidelines, and timelines.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and leadership team on operational planning and program development.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Maintain compliance with regulatory expectations.
- Monitor clinical outcomes and satisfaction metrics; identify areas for improvement and implement system-level changes.
- Coordinate with medical, psychiatric, and administrative staff to ensure integrated and holistic care delivery.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field.
- Active Maryland clinical license required: LCSW-C, LCPC, LCPAT, or equivalent Maryland board-approved clinical licensure.
- Approved Clinical Supervisor status (or eligibility) preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years of clinical experience in behavioral health or substance use disorder treatment.
- At least 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience in a healthcare or behavioral health setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of ASAM Criteria, Trauma-informed and evidence-based treatment modalities, Maryland COMAR 10.63 regulations, and Medicaid and third-party documentation standards.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage change, and improve clinical performance.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
