Job Description
Structural Design Engineer
Build your career designing impactful, technically challenging structures alongside a team that is invested in your growth.
At Ehlert Bryan, you’ll be part of the design process from the beginning – contributing to exciting projects and working closely with architects, clients, and contractors to bring ideas to life. From early in your career, you will take on meaningful responsibility and play an active role in project delivery.
Our team structure allows you to work directly with senior engineers and principals, gaining insight into both technical design and real-world project execution. Rather than being siloed into a narrow role, you’ll be involved in multiple aspects of a project, building both technical depth and practical understanding.
Whether you’re a recent graduate or have a few years of experience, this is an opportunity to develop strong technical skills, gain broad project exposure, and grow into a well-rounded structural engineer with a clear path toward licensure and leadership.
What You’ll Do
- Perform structural design for steel, concrete, and wood systems
- Analyze structures for unique loading demands – including high wind, high seismic, vibration, and progressive collapse – using advanced analysis methods and specialty detailing.
- Build and work within 3D finite elements models to efficiently and accurately design structures
- Coordinate and develop 3D Revit models as part of the design coordination and documentation process
- Work directly with senior engineers and principals who are actively involved in training and mentorship
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, owners, and project teams across all phases, from early design through construction
- Gain experience across a wide range of project types, materials, and structural systems
- Take on increasing responsibility based on your experience level
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering (Structures focus)
- 0–5 years of structural engineering experience (internships included)
- Strong fundamentals in structural analysis and design
- Clear communication skills and attention to detail
- Motivated to learn, contribute, and grow professionally
Nice to Have
- Master’s degree in Structural Engineering
- Experience with RAM, ETABS, SAP, or similar tools
- Revit experience
- Exposure to steel, concrete, or wood design
