This position is based out of Severn, MD. Ecotech operates in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Virginia and West Virginia. You will be expected to report to the Shop Location at the start of each shift.

As an Assistant on-site Chemist, you will identify, inventory, separate, and package hazardous waste at customer sites while ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, and transportation regulations. You will also prepare required documentation, support waste shipment and disposal, and may operate company vehicles to ensure materials are handled safely and correctly. A Class B CDL and Hazmat endorsement is required.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Handles hazardous and non-hazardous materials including inventorying, identifying, segregating, and packaging waste material in accordance with policies, procedures and all applicable regulations.
  • Perform onsite services which may include waste collection, consolidation, sampling, safety/compliance inspections, and other related activities required by the customer.
  • Preparing shipment of packaged waste by inspecting, labeling, marking, and loading for transport
  • Properly completes documentation including shipping papers, Land Disposal Restrictions (LDR’s), evaluations/certifications and other required documentation
  • Follows, understands, and promotes by example, all Health & Safety /Job Safety Analysis (JSA’s) procedures including development of on-site Health &Safety plans/JSA’s as outlined in the safety manual.
  • Timely Task Completion and Customer Service: Perform assigned tasks efficiently and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Safety Training and Responsibility: Maintain accountability for your own safety as well as the safety of others, including fellow Ecotech employees, customers, and the general public. This includes adhering to proper certifications and licenses.
  • Adherence to Safety Policies: Fully comprehend and comply with company safety policies, regulations, practices, and all relevant laws in the execution of your duties.
  • Professional Conduct: Conduct yourself in a manner that reflects positively on both you and Ecotech.
  • Physical Capability: Be capable of performing repetitive physical tasks, including sitting, lifting, stooping, bending, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and crawling. Occasionally climbing ladders, working at heights and in confined spaces
  • Outdoor Work Readiness: Be prepared to work in all outdoor conditions for extended periods.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience Requirements: 2+ years of chemical disposal experience.
  • Education Requirements: 40-hour Hazwoper and current 8-hour refresher
  • Commitment to Employment: A strong desire for sustained and ongoing employment with Ecotech is highly valued.
  • Accountability and Company Loyalty: Demonstrates a high level of accountability and consistently prioritizes the interests of the company.
  • Proximity to Shop Location: It is preferable that candidates reside within a thirty (30) minute commuting distance from the Shop Location during standard commuting hours, considering typical traffic conditions. Additionally, candidates should exhibit a willingness to report during non-standard hours in the event of an emergency.
  • Safety-Conscious Work Ethic: Must prioritize task completion without compromising safety standards.
  • Integrity and Work Ethic: Must be honest and diligent in all professional matters, including, but not limited to, providing accurate information during the job application process, at the time of hire, throughout employment, and in any aspect relating to job performance.
  • Positive Attitude: Maintain a consistently positive attitude.
  • Communication Skills: Must possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Teamwork and Independence: Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
  • Compliance with Policies: Must consent to motor vehicle and criminal background checks, and adhere to the company’s drug-free workplace policy.
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL): Possession of a Class A CDL is preferred; however, a minimum of a Class B CDL is required.
  • Technical skills: Relevant computer skills are necessary, depending on job requirements.
