Salary: CAD $165K. Eligible for periodic salary increases and performance-based incentive bonuses in accordance with company policy.

We are seeking dedicated and creative MTS-1 senior backend software engineer (level can be adjusted for candidate’s skills and experience) to architect, craft and develop innovative, highly performant, available software across various device form factors that help business sellers worldwide to on-board, handle inventory & listing and grow their business on the largest global marketplace.

In this role, you will deliver at the very core of eBay’s selling experience, to deliver an engaging selling experience for more than 25 million sellers across 22 nations, who collectively generate billions of dollars in revenue quarterly. Performance, reliability, scalability and accuracy are of utmost importance as this area of work is at the absolute top of the funnel for all of our extensive e-commerce ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for a functional domain to craft cross data center distributed, fault tolerant, highly available and performant web applications by using software architecture design, OOA/D skills in addition to outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
• Own major projects and features from design phase to coding, testing, deployment and support
• Estimate engineering effort, plan implementation, and rollout system changes. Identify project technical risks and make recommendations to mitigate
• Use deep technical proven experience of company systems and applications, which could cover applications, services, systems, or frameworks
• Demonstrate a high level of initiative and attention to detail during daily operations
• Collaborate effectively with other engineers, product managers, designers, and QA engineers
• Encourage peers with high-quality, hands-on technical contributions
• Mentor and lead junior engineers in software engineering methodology, design, and best practices.
• Consistently produce high-quality software with a focus on unit testing, regular code reviews, and continuous integration.
• Uphold high standards in quality and operational excellence.
• Develop comprehensive technical documentation and presentations to clearly communicate architectural decisions and design options. Ensure documentation aligns with project scopes, milestones, and deliverables.
• Effectively delegate tasks and responsibilities within the team, considering individual skills and workload
• Lead the development of prototypes and proof-of-concept implementations for new technologies or approaches.

Education

• Bachelor of Engineering degree plus 8 or more years of experience; or MS in Computer Science
