Project Engineer – Federal Construction (USACE / NAVFAC)
★ Estimated salary range: $100,000 to $120,000 per year. Actual compensation may vary depending on experience, certifications, project requirements, location, and internal alignment/level.

Doyon Government Group (DGG) provides design-build and general construction services nationwide for government and military facilities.
DGG is seeking an Project Engineer to support the planning, execution, and delivery of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) federal construction projects. This role is ideal for early-career professionals with experience supporting federal or commercial construction projects who are ready to grow into full Project Management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support project planning, scheduling, and coordination for federal construction projects
- Assist with project budgets, cost tracking, and financial reporting in alignment with contract requirements
- Coordinate with Superintendents, QCMs, and SSHOs to maintain quality, safety, and project progress
- Review plans, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and contract documents for compliance
- Assist in preparing and managing subcontractor and owner pay applications, including billing and invoice tracking
- Support change order management for both subcontractors and owners
- Maintain accurate project documentation including daily reports, submittals, RFIs, QC and safety plans, and closeout packages
- Track project schedules, milestones, and short-term lookahead schedules
- Utilize project management systems (Vista preferred) to manage financials, documentation, and reporting
- Assist with procurement processes including purchase requisitions and purchase orders
- Support proposal development, estimates, and RFP responses in coordination with preconstruction and business development teams
- Conduct site visits and assist with field coordination and inspections as needed
- Support project start-up and closeout activities
Qualifications
- 1 to 3 years of construction project management experience supporting commercial, civil, or federal projects
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field required
- Experience supporting USACE or NAVFAC projects preferred
- Familiarity with construction project lifecycle, documentation, and federal compliance requirements
- Experience with project management or scheduling software (Vista preferred)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills
- Manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
