Job Description

Duties Help You will be required to complete Police Training Academy and annual sustainment training (e.g, Level 1 Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) contamination, Boat Operator Courses, second class swimmer qualifications, coxswains qualifications, etc.).

You will be required to carry firearms, tasers, and Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) spray, and maintain weapons proficiency.

You will be required to read, write, and speak English.

You will be required to respond to and investigate complaints while enforcing all laws, rules, and regulations.

You will be required to act as the Incident Commander (IC) for significant and catastrophic events.

You will be required to apprehend personnel, be proficient in Mirandizing suspects, and testify in court.

You will provide victims and witnesses with information regarding social support programs.

You will interview witnesses, take statements, secure crime scenes, seize and protect evidence, draft reports, create incident diagrams, and provide direction to other law enforcement personnel.

You will perform traffic law enforcement duties (e.g., the use of speed measuring devices, drug/alcohol testing equipment, removal of hazards from the roadway, perform vehicle searches, etc.).

You will operate motor vehicles with manual transmissions and 2 or 4 wheel drive to transport personnel and materials.

You will be required to use computer equipment, web-based law enforcement programs, software, office automation equipment, etc.

You will be required to operate electronic tactical police communications equipment.

You will be required to perform a full range of protection, anti-terrorism, and sentry duties.

You will be required to qualify for and maintain an emergency vehicle operator endorsement.

You will perform other duties.

You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.

You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.

This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.

Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.

This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.

Qualifications Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Experience that provided knowledge of laws and regulations; 2) Experience that included duties typical to law enforcement operations, law enforcement practices, and law enforcement techniques; 3) Experience that included responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property; 4) Experience on a police force or security force that provided visitor protection and law enforcement; 5) Experience that provided knowledge of criminal investigati
