Job Description

Job Summary

This position is located in the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Farm Production and Conservation (FPAC) Business Center (FBC), Acquisitions Division (AD). The incumbent serves as the Chief of Staff (COS) to the FPAC Acquisitions Director and carries out a wide variety of difficult and important assignments associated with Acquisition and Procurement policy administration matters, pending legislation, and legislative proposals bearing on all AD responsibilities.

Major Duties

Manages the day-to-day operations of the immediate office, including strategic management of assigned staff and the Acquisitions Directors time. Serves as the FBC, AD, Acquisitions Directors primary point-of-contact for leading and coordinating the strategic planning and collaboration of activities. Oversees, reviews, and interprets incoming data requests and other information encompassing the full range of acquisitions. Analyzes and evaluates policies and office operations to ensure appropriate emphasis on AD management goals and the accomplishment of broad policy objectives for the FBC. Provides highly authoritative guidance and expert analytical advisory services to the FPAC AD and the FBC leadership on all matters and issues associated with FBC Acquisition activities.

This job does not have an education qualification requirement for the GS-15 level.

When assessed through a score-based category rating method, CTAP applicants must receive a rating of at least 85 out of a possible 100. Temporary Promotion Not-to-Exceed: This is a temporary promotion not-to-exceed 1 year and may be extended (up to 5 years) without further competition or may end earlier due to lack of work or funds, or at the discretion of the Hiring Manager.
