The Opportunity Our Senior Payroll Manager role is located at Dentalcorp’s Toronto Support Centre and will be reporting to the Director of Finance. This role will be responsible for overseeing and managing the accurate and efficient operation of the Workday Payroll function. This involves overseeing the bi-weekly preparation, documentation, and disbursement of payroll in accordance with applicable government legislation for a multi-province Canadian payroll. The Senior Payroll Manager also collaborates with partners in HR, Total Rewards, IT and Operations to support streamlined processes and ensure payroll data integrity. The Impact You’ll Have This role will report to the Director of Finance and will lead and develop a high‑performing Payroll team and plays a critical cross‑functional leadership role, influencing stakeholders across Finance, HR, IT, and clinic operations. It serves as a key advisor on payroll processes, compliance, and Workday Payroll optimization, ensuring alignment across teams. In This Role, You Will Strategic Payroll Leadership Partner closely with the Vice President, Finance to drive the strategic, tactical, and operational direction of Payroll, including day-to-day management of departmental and cross-functional initiatives. Identify payroll-related opportunities and issues, proactively developing and implementing effective solutions. Ensure recommendations and decisions are grounded in strong analytics, data, and business insights. Clearly define, communicate, and execute the pathway from strategy through implementation to successful delivery. Payroll Operations & Compliance Execute and oversee bi-weekly payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and proactive resolution of omissions, discrepancies, and compliance issues. Manage monthly and annual payroll remittances, filings, and reconciliations in compliance with all applicable government and regulatory requirements. Ensure the accurate and timely preparation and distribution of annual employee tax documents (PIER, T4, T4A, RL‑1, etc.). Oversee U.S. payroll processing in partnership with a third-party payroll provider. People Leadership & Service Delivery Lead, motivate, develop, and retain a high-performing Payroll team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer excellence. Ensure the team consistently meets or exceeds internal service-level agreements and provides timely, customer-focused responses to all payroll inquiries. Workday Payroll Ownership & Optimization Serve as the subject matter expert and primary resource for Workday Payroll functionality, performance, and ongoing success. Partner closely with the Workday system administrator, functional configurators, and cross-functional stakeholders to identify, prioritize, and implement system enhancements. Drive post-implementation optimization initiatives to continuously improve Workday Payroll processes and capabilities. Troubleshoot payroll issues in collaboration with system and functional partners. Systems Integration & Financial Reporting Oversee the accurate transmission of Workday Payroll costing and accrual data into the NetSuite integration. Prepare, compile, and analyze payroll data, summaries, and reports for internal and external auditors, regulatory agencies, business partners, and management, as required. What You’ll Bring Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent work experience Completion of Canadian Payroll Association Payroll Management Certificate Demonstratable strategic payroll leadership and change implementation experience 5+ years experience in a fast paced, high growth environment, including a minimum of 4 years in a leadership capacity 3+ years of successful experience managing and using Workday Payroll functionality Implementation and post-implementation optimization experience using Workday Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll regulations and U.S. payroll regulations Ability to live and champion the dentalcorp values (Integrity, Collaboration, Innovation and Excellence) with every interaction Strong critical thinking capabilities; always positive consensus-focused collaborator and skilled cross-functional communicator Strong team building skills and ability to positively motivate and support others Thorough knowledge of provincial legislation and compliance experience relevant to payroll Good knowledge of Canadian Workers Compensation remittance requirements Proven analytical and payroll software problem-solving skills and attention to detail Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a can-do attitude and the ability to adjust to dynamic changing requirements Must have ability to at all times maintain confidentiality and practice professional discretion in interactions and dealings with all others About Dentalcorp Dentalcorp is Canada’s largest and fastest growing network of dental practices, committed to advancing the overall well-being of Canadians by delivering the best clinical outcomes and unforgettable experiences. The salary range for this position is $130,000 CAD to $150,000 CAD annually.
