Job Description
Role Title: Lead Logistics – Project Organisation: (India-focused | Chemical Greenfield Project)
Location: Corporate Office, Vadodara (with travel to Indian ports, supplier locations, and project site)
Note: This is 3rd party contractual position
Position Overview:
Manage end-to-end logistics execution for assigned project packages, including imports, domestic movement, and site delivery. The role focuses on disciplined execution, contractor coordination, and compliance, operating within defined logistics strategies and EPCM frameworks.
Critical Responsibilities:
- Execute logistics for project equipment, bulk material, and construction material within approved plans and schedules.
- Coordinate with dismantling and relocation contractors for international shipments, including Germany-to-India movements.
- Manage freight forwarders, transporters, customs brokers, and ODC contractors for assigned scopes.
- Ensure timely customs clearance and port operations in India, complying with DGFT, hazardous cargo, and port authority norms.
- Interface with EPCM logistics and construction teams to align delivery schedules with site readiness.
- Track logistics costs and support budget adherence through invoice validation and cost checks.
- Identify execution issues and escalate risks with mitigation proposals.
Routine Responsibilities:
- Shipment tracking, documentation control, and status reporting.
- Coordination with suppliers, inspection agencies, and EPCM for dispatch readiness.
- Support site teams during receipt, unloading, and internal movement.
- Maintain logistics MIS, dashboards, and progress reports.
- Assist in contractor performance reviews and claim resolution.
Education Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Chemical / Industrial preferred).
- Postgraduate qualification in Supply Chain or Logistics is desirable.
Knowledge of Software/ Application System/Tools
- SAP (MM / PS preferred), MS Excel, PowerPoint; exposure to Primavera or MS Project is an advantage.
Experience
10 to 14 years in project logistics, preferably in Indian chemical, refinery, power, or large industrial projects.
India Focused Capability Expectations:
- Hands-on exposure to Indian ports (Mumbai, Kandla, Hazira, Chennai, etc.).
- Practical experience with Indian customs clearance processes.
- Familiarity with ODC movement approvals and state-wise transport constraints.
Technical Competencies/Skills:
- Project Logistics Execution: Ability to execute logistics activities for imported and domestic materials in line with approved project schedules and EPCM plans.
- International and Domestic Shipments: Working knowledge of international freight, Incoterms, packing lists, BoL, and coordination with freight forwarders and customs brokers.
- Indian Customs and Regulatory Compliance: Hands-on exposure to Indian customs clearance, DGFT procedures, port documentation, and compliance for hazardous cargo.
- ODC and Heavy Lift Handling: Practical understanding of ODC movement approvals, route surveys, and coordination with transporters and local authorities.
- Contractor Coordination: Ability to manage day-to-day performance of logistics contractors and resolve execution-level issues.
- Cost Tracking and Controls: Basic cost tracking, invoice verification, and support in budget adherence.
- Knowledge of import/export specific schemes like MOOWR, RODTEP, EPCG, etc.
