Technical Writer (Part-time)

DevDocs Pro creates documentation tools and services for software companies. We help engineering teams build better docs, API references, and developer portals that developers actually want to use.

The Role

We’re looking for a part‑time Technical Writer to help create and maintain documentation for our growing suite of developer tools. This is a flexible, remote position ideal for someone who wants work‑life balance while making a real impact on developer experience.

What You’ll Do

• Write clear, concise technical documentation for APIs and SDKs
• Create tutorials, guides, and code examples
• Maintain and update existing documentation
• Collaborate with engineers to understand features and workflows
• Review and edit contributions from engineering team members
• Organize and structure documentation for discoverability
• Gather feedback from users to improve documentation quality

Requirements

• 2‑4 years of technical writing experience
• Strong understanding of software development concepts
• Experience documenting APIs and developer tools
• Proficiency with Markdown and version control (Git)
• Ability to explain complex technical concepts simply
• Self‑motivated and able to work independently

Nice to Have

• Software development background or CS degree
• Experience with documentation tools (Docusaurus, GitBook, ReadMe)
• Familiarity with OpenAPI/Swagger specifications
• Understanding of REST APIs and GraphQL
• Experience writing code samples in multiple languages
• Hours: 20 hours per week (flexible schedule)
• Compensation: $40‑$50/hour CAD
• Remote: Work from anywhere in Canada
• Schedule: Flexible hours with core overlap 10am‑2pm PT
• Duration: Ongoing with potential to increase hours
