Job Description
Want to be part of a laid back, talented, dynamic, well established work atmosphere?
We’re seeking an IT Technician and Support Specialist to join our small, talented and well established team. We're a service company, providing IT services and support to Dental offices in the greater Grand Rapids area. We're quite good at it, and we have fun doing it.
What does a day at DDS entail?
The day to day at DDS is pretty dynamic. Sometimes the whole team is in the office, other times all techs are dispatched out servicing clients or working remotely. There are times where entire networks are being staged in the office, and other times there are no big projects happening. We keep meetings to a minimum but do have a few every week to touch base. When we can we schedule fun company outings like lunches and go karting.
As a tech your time will primarily be spent, well, doing tech work. Some onsite, some remote. You'll also need to do a good job documenting your time so it can be billed and our clients understand the work that was done.
The networks we support generally consist of a Windows server running an Active Directory Domain Controller, and anywhere between 5 and 40 windows workstations. Then, there is network/security hardware and software, onsite and cloud backups, ancillary equipment like printers and scanners, and Dental specific hardware and software. It helps to have a base of knowledge for as much of this as possible, but we are big on training too.
Some days will be very straightforward and pre-planned while others will change in real time depending on the calls that come in. Generally speaking this is a good job for someone who doesn't want to just do one thing all the time. Our techs learn a wide range of skills, both tech-related and people/communication related.
What does our ideal candidate have?
- Attitude - Above all, positive energy and communication skills are key. Our clients are our number one priority and our ideal candidate will be able to assess their needs for products, services, as well as match their communication style.
- Aptitude – You don’t have to know it all but you need to be eager to learn. This means learning new skills and technology.
- Previous IT knowledge and experience is great, but that toolbox can be built over time through training.
- Plays well with others attitude. The thing that gets us excited for work is our team. We play and work well together and have each other's back.
DDS is a laid back but professional environment. We enjoy collaboration and lunches together. We work on projects sometimes together and sometimes alone. We provide amazing health, vision and dental insurance, matching IRA, mileage reimbursement, paid holidays, a strict NO WORKING ON YOUR BIRTHDAY policy, and 26 days PTO. We value and appreciate a balanced life. Work is not everything, but if we have to do it we might as well enjoy it.
