DC Fire Cadet Program Entry

Launch your firefighting journey with the DC Fire and EMS Department’s Fire Cadet Program. This temporary recruitment opportunity is for DC residents, ages 18-21, who are eager to enter the firefighting field.

In this role, you will undergo extensive training to become a certified firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician at the DC Fire and EMS Training Academy. Your assignments may include participation in community safety events while honing essential firefighting and medical skills. This program is set up to build a strong foundation for a future in emergency services.

Requirements

• Must be a resident of DC aged 18-21
• Possess a valid driver’s license or learner’s permit
• High school graduate or possess a GED
• Maintain a cumulative GPA above 2.0
• Successfully pass background checks and medical tests
