Job Description

Seton Center, Inc's mission is to work with our neighbors to build a hopeful future, in the spirit of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, through a focus on the well-being of the whole person. The Seton Center is currently looking for a full-time Community Outreach Coordinator working 40 hours per week.

Position Summary:

The Community Outreach Coordinator is responsible for screening and assessing community members who are seeking assistance and for facilitating emergency financial aid services. This position supports the management and delivery of Seton Center services, including the food pantry and food distribution program. The Outreach Case Manager also connects eligible clients to internal programs and external social service partners, ensuring coordinated support for individuals and families in need.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Client Services & Case Management

  • Conduct thorough screening and assessment interviews to understand client needs and determine eligibility for services.
  • Facilitate emergency financial assistance for eligible clients, including rent, utilities, medical needs, and food insecurity.
  • Provide information, referrals, and advocacy to connect clients with additional community programs and resources.
  • Conduct eligibility screenings for:
  • Medical bills and prescription copays through the Catoctin Community Medical Fund (CCMF).
  • Vision and hearing assistance on behalf of the Lions Clubs of Emmitsburg and Thurmont.

Collaboration & Partnerships

  • In collaboration with the Executive Director, assess community needs to enhance program and service delivery and to align with Seton Center's strategic plan.
  • Work collaboratively with other agencies to coordinate financial assistance and support services.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with community partners and seek opportunities to develop new collaborations.
  • Attend events that are client-focused (which may include weekends)

Administrative & Financial Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely (within 24 hrs.) client files and records in the CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system.
  • Accurately complete check requests and related documentation in a timely manner.
  • Assist the Executive Director with the development of the fiscal year outreach services budget.
  • Track and monitor grant spending for outreach services and the food pantry.
  • Prepare and submit a monthly report to the Executive Director detailing services provided and funds expended.

Food Pantry Operations

  • Assist in the management and delivery of outreach services, including food pantry operations and food distribution (food drop) events.
  • Collaborate with community partners to promote, coordinate, and expand food resources for food pantry.
  • Maintain inventory and assist with stocking and organization of the food pantry.
  • Support food distribution logistics as needed.

Professional Standards & Development

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all client information and uphold clear professional boundaries.
  • Attend staff meetings, training, and in-service sessions.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in social work, sociology, psychology, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in social services, customer service, or administrative support.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and databases; ability to learn new software systems.
  • Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced, client-centered environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build networks and collaborative relationships within the nonprofit sector in Frederick County and Adams County.
  • Understanding of and commitment to modeling the Vincentian Charism and the mission of Seton Center.

Hours: Salaried; 40 hours per week Mon-Fri 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; occasional weekend events

Pay: $42,000 - $47,000 range based on experience
