Process Engineer - Shift Operations

About the Role

We are looking for a Process Engineer Shift Operations to manage and monitor plant operations through PLC–SCADA systems at our manufacturing facility in Bawal.

This is a high-responsibility, hands-on role where you will ensure safe, stable, and efficient plant operations across shifts. You will work closely with field operators, maintenance teams, and supervisors to respond to process deviations, maintain operational discipline, and continuously improve plant performance.

What You’ll Do

Shift Operations & Control

• Plan, operate and monitor plant and utility processes both on-ground and through PLC-SCADA control systems, through necessary actions such as manpower deployment as the shift leader
• Track key process parameters to ensure safe and streamlined process operations
• Ensure process execution within defined process limits and meet necessary production targets

Process Monitoring & Troubleshooting

• Identify process deviations, alarms, and abnormalities in real time, investigate the root causes and initiate corrective actions
• Coordinate with field operators for parameter adjustments and issue resolution
• Coordinate with other shift personnel to resolve any operational or administrative issues during the shift operations
• Escalate critical issues with clear observations and recommended actions
• Coordinate and communicate pre-emptive and emergency maintenance procedures with all relevant departments to ensure timely resolution.
• Contribute to the maintenance team to ensure proper planning of preventive and predictive maintenance schedules and coordinate the necessary plant downtimes with the relevant personnel/departments

Safety & Emergency Response

• Execute safe startup, shutdown, isolation, and emergency procedures as per SOPs
• Take immediate corrective actions to minimize risk to personnel, equipment, and product quality
• Ensure strict adherence to HSE standards and safe operating practices

Coordination & Shift Management

• Maintain effective communication with operations, maintenance, and utilities teams
• Ensure smooth shift handovers with accurate logging of plant status and ongoing issues

Process Improvement & Reliability

• Support root cause analysis (RCA) for process upsets and recurring issues
• Assist in improving process efficiency, yield, and utility consumption
• Monitor & help control cost of quality, and chemical and utility consumption (such as energy loss, waste generation , breakdown, & other quality indicators) and identify improvement points.
• Identify early warning signals and potential operational risks
• Provide necessary feedback on product quality and performance to the shift crew
• Ensure efficient utilization and deployment of manpower and resources to maximize process productivity

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate shift logs, process data records, and incident reports
• Assist in preparation of shift-wise and daily operational reports (MIS)
• Active and consistent participation in the GAMBA walk framework

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications:

• B.Tech in Chemical Engineering
• 2–4 years of experience in plant operations, control room, or process industries
• Hands-on exposure to PLC–SCADA based systems

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• Strong fundamentals in chemical engineering and process control
• Proficiency with day-to-day running/handling with SCADA, nominal diagnostic and troubleshooting understanding of SCADA dashboards/systems, general tech-savviness with computers and perephral digital equipment
• Understands GMP, plant chemicals, ISO standards and statutory compliances related to chemical processes involving volatile/explosive chemicals
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and process flow diagrams
• Experience in medium- to large-scale continuous process plants or specialty chemicals manufacturing plants, and 24/7 shift rotation with cross functional team members
• Strong safety awareness and adherence to operational discipline
• Exposure to processes involving volatile/explosive chemicals and relevant experience and know-how regarding safe handling and operations in such cases
