Summary

We are seeking a safety-conscious and highly skilled Forklift/Heavy Equipment Operator. Unlike standard warehouse environments, our facility handles custom-fabricated stainless steel, aluminum, and carbon steel equipment. These items vary significantly in size, shape, and weight, requiring a candidate with exceptional precision and experience in non-standard load handling.

Key Responsibilities:

• Clear communication and teamwork skills are essential.
• Unload incoming material and organize them as required in the shop or yard.
• Load trucks with finished product while ensuring no product damage.
• Transport raw materials and oversized steel components to production workstations.
• Locate and move products to pallets or crates for storage or shipment.
• Identify product, damage and report shortages or quality deficiencies immediately.
• Inspect machinery daily to determine the need for repairs and guarantee safety by performing regular maintenance checks.
• Comply with all company policies and Ministry of Labour safety requirements.
• Follow all established operating procedures and report any defective equipment to your supervisor immediately.
• Strategically organize and stack components within our limited yard space to ensure high-traffic areas remain clear and materials are easily accessible.
• Manage and execute requests from various shop floor team members, prioritizing urgent production needs while maintaining an orderly workflow.
• Keep all work areas and the yard clear of debris to prevent equipment damage and ensure safe maneuvering in tight spaces.

Qualifications

• Beneficial to have held a Forklift Operator Certification in the recent past or currently hold one.
• Proven experience handling large, heavy, and irregularly shaped loads (structural steel or custom fabrications) required.
• Ability to handle varying weights and centers of gravity that differ from standard palletized warehouse goods.
• A strong history of following safety procedures and equipment checklists.
• Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision on the shop floor.
• Physically capable of performing shopfloor and yard duties.
