Position Summary At The Towbes Group we proudly create communities where people thrive Headquartered in Santa Barbara California The Towbes Group is an award winning fully integrated property management development and construction services firm with over 60 years of experience on the Central Coast We live and breathe these attributes with all we do As an integral Construction Accounting team member for the Towbes Group this position will provide extraordinary customer service to our internal team members and external customers exemplifying the core values and our dedication to quality and service This position will have direct responsibility as a Construction Accounting team member to assist in the accomplishment of the departments goals and objectives This position will elevate the team as a member of the companys high performance culture that emphasizes Community Integrity Quality ROI Sustainability Team and Customer Service Job OverviewPurpose The ConstructionCorporate Accountant is responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures In addition they will be responsible for construction project billing job cost subcontractor relations and Compliance Management Job RequirementsEssential Duties Monthly closings and preparation of monthly corporate financial statementsResponsible for the accounting and financial reporting of development propertiesIssue monthly department budget reports and respond to inquiries Prepare and post journal entriesGeneral ledger operationsReconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts and income statement accountsAssist with year end closingsAdminister accounts receivableprepare and post depositscash receipts misc billingResponsible for all corporate and real estate investments accounts payableReview and post payroll journal entriesPrepare bank transfers ACH and wire paymentsReconcile and enter credit card charges for select departments Gather and file the receiptsMonitor and resolve bank issuesAccountbank reconciliationsReview and process expense reportsAssist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and proceduresSpecial projects as requested by the CFOCreate bi monthly check runs review invoices and releases for paymentRecord project costs in all modules of the Construction Accounting System general ledger job cost project commitments lien releases subcontractor payments accounts receivable and accounts payableCompile and review construction draws for multiple projectsTrack preliminary noticesRegular follow up on documents such as releases change orders etcRequest releases from subcontractors and suppliersAssist in contract generation change orders project billing and insurance administrationPrepare monthly journal entries and job cost accrualsReconcile general ledger accounts and reconcile bank accountsCommunicate and assist with handling legal issues such as mechanics liensWork closely with subcontractors Maintainrespond to shared department email accountReview and issue monthly allocations for cell phones and fuelHandle 1099 submissions for vendorsOther Duties as assigned Knowledge Skill & AbilitiesPrerequisites High school diploma or equivalent and relevant experience2 3 years of administrative construction management experience Construction Accounting Software 3 years preferredAbility to work independently and prioritize effectively in a challenging environmentIntermediate to advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook Word PowerPoint and Excel Ability to evaluate opportunities to streamline workflows using AI including identifying repetitive tasks suitable for automationAbility to use AI to draft announcements communication templates tenant notices and report summaries while maintaining accuracy and professional toneAbility to critically review and verify AI generated content for accuracy confidentiality compliance and alignment with the Towbes Group standardAbility to work in a manner consistent with having a high level of integrity honesty courage and loyaltyStrong problem solving skillsProvide high quality customer service to both internal and external customersThe ability to put people first in all aspects of your positionWork with the intent of the betterment of our communityAbility to effectively comprehend and interpret policies and procedures in the work environmentAbility to collaborate effectively as a team memberAbility to exercise good judgment in making decisionsAbility to work under pressure and complete tasks within prescribed time framesAbility to complete tasks within prescribed time frames Ability to disseminate information and guidelines clearly to others and check for understandingExcellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with a wide range of employees and customersProfessional in verbal and written communicationStrong written an
