Core Functions
The Senior Systems Administrator ensures the reliability, security, and optimal performance of all network and server infrastructures across the Cree Nation Government. The role oversees both on‑premises and cloud environments-including Microsoft 365 and Intune-to support consistent service delivery and user productivity.
The incumbent leads enterprise device management, security compliance, and lifecycle maintenance for Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android endpoints. This role drives automation, monitoring, and proactive maintenance efforts while mentoring technicians and collaborating with departments to maintain a secure, resilient IT environment.
Functional Responsibilities:
Proactively manage and monitor the performance, capacity, and stability of systems and network infrastructure.
Administer and optimize Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager for centralized device management, security policy enforcement, and compliance monitoring.
Deploy, configure, and maintain end‑user devices across multiple platforms, including Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android.
Ensure all systems and endpoints remain current with security patches, OS updates, and application releases using automation tools and compliance policies.
Manage disaster recovery and business continuity plans for Cree Nation Government’s critical services.
Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and related roles.
Manage hybrid identity integration with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) to ensure secure authentication and access control.
Establish, manage, and monitor backups and replication of servers, data, and virtualized workloads.
Provide Tier 3 technical support and mentorship to IT technicians and other technology staff.
Coordinate and control remote access solutions, including VPN, Intune‑managed access, and secure remote work capabilities.
Participate in technical research, testing, and the development of new solutions to improve infrastructure reliability, scalability, and security posture.
Provide expert recommendations on infrastructure design, endpoint security, cloud adoption, and software deployment strategies.
Maintain thorough documentation of configurations, procedures, and operational standards to ensure consistency and supportability.
Other Responsibilities:
Maintain current knowledge of emerging technologies, cybersecurity practices, and cloud management trends.
Support IT leadership in defining standards, procedures, and automation initiatives to streamline operations.
Maintain up do date knowledge and skills in area(s) of responsibility.
Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems.
MCSE, MCSA, CCNP certifications is an asset.
Experience
Five to eight years experience in Systems or Infrastructure administration.
Proven expertise in Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager administration, device compliance, and patch management.
Language:
Fluency in English.
Fluency in French.
Fluency in Cree is an asset.
Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to manage Windows Server, Active Directory, and Azure AD hybrid environments.
Strong knowledge of endpoint security, conditional access, and mobile device management (MDM/MAM) principles.
Familiarity with PowerShell automation, monitoring tools, and reporting dashboards.
Familiarity with macOS device management and Apple Business Manager integration is an advantage.

The Cree Nation Government may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the aforementioned requirements if a suitable candidate who is a JBNQA beneficiary accepts to follow a training plan determined by the Cree Nation Government as a condition of employment.
