Division: Corus Radio Vancouver – CKNW
Position: Radio Technical Producer (Part-Time)
Location: Downtown Vancouver, BC (On-site)
About the Role
730 CKNW is seeking a part-time Radio Technical Producer to join our team for a 10-month term.
Reporting to the Director of Talk and Talent, you will play a key role in executing and presenting CKNW sports broadcasts, including producing features, podcasts, and other audio content.
This role requires flexibility, with shifts that may include early mornings, evenings, late nights, weekdays, weekends, and holidays as needed.
You will contribute by:
- Operating the master control board, Wide Orbit, and Burli during live, local talk shows, including controlling mic levels, phone calls, imaging elements, commercials, and all other audio sources during the course of a show/game.
- Setting up the studio and preparing log for broadcast.
- Collaborating with show producer and host for content.
- Editing and uploading show audio, features and other programming as needed.
- Assisting the Production Department with features and production elements.
- Performing other duties as required.
Skills and experience you will bring:
- Post-secondary education in radio broadcasting or a related field preferred.
- Intermediate to advanced digital audio editing skills.
- Demonstrable passion for the new talk radio format, and a desire to work in the radio broadcasting industry.
- Previous production experience is a strong asset.
- The ability to anticipate and quickly react to an on-air situation.
- A creative thinker who enhances on air programming with appropriate music and sound effects in a timely manner.
- Knowledge of Wide Orbit and Burli.
- Above average computer skills.
- Experience in the radio industry, and familiarity with the News - Talk format.
- A friendly, positive, team player with acute attention to detail.
- The ability to multitask, communicate, stay calm and trouble shoot in high pressure & evolving situations.
- A flexible schedule.
