Filmmaker / Video Editor (Full-Time, NYC)

Location: New York City (Upper East Side – in-person)

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9/9:30 - 5:30/6:00 PM (flexible as needed)

Salary: $60,000/year

Kate McGuire, founder of Converted Closet, is seeking a highly creative, hands-on Filmmaker / Video Editor to join her team in NYC.

This is an in-person role for someone who can take video projects from concept to completion: combining strong storytelling instincts with technical expertise in filming, editing, lighting, and sound. You’ll work within a fast-paced content environment, executing high-quality video while aligning with an overarching content strategy.

Converted Closet is a sustainable fashion platform founded by Kate McGuire, showcasing “converted couture” and inspiring people to transform existing clothing into unique, personalized pieces. The brand blends creativity, storytelling, and sustainability to reimagine fashion consumption.

What You’ll Do

Lead video projects end-to-end: concepting, shooting, editing, and delivery

Film high-quality content across formats (social, long-form, campaigns, BTS)

Edit engaging, story-driven videos optimized for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and possibly Patreon

Organize multitudes of raw footage from multiple shoots and projects, along with assets, and post-production workflows

Shape visual storytelling through pacing, sound design, music, and graphics

Execute lighting setups and capture clean, professional audio on set

Collaborate closely with Kate and the creative team to develop ideas and narratives

Work quickly and efficiently within a structured content strategy

Manage timelines and deliver multiple projects under tight deadlines

Continuously elevate content quality, creative direction, and production efficiency

What We’re Looking For

5+ years of experience in filmmaking, video production, or content creation

Strong proficiency in filming and editing tools (Premiere Pro, After Effects, or similar)

Solid understanding of cinematography, lighting, and sound

Strong storytelling instincts with an eye for pacing, emotion, and audience retention

Ability to work quickly without sacrificing quality in a fast-paced environment

Highly hands-on, self-directed, and proactive

Strong collaboration and communication skills (team player mindset)

Organized and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Incredibly flexible, this will take up all your working hours

Based in NYC and able to commute to the Upper East Side

Bonus Points

Experience with fashion, styling, or sustainability-focused brands

Background in social-first or short-form content strategy

Motion graphics, animation, or visual effects skills

Experience working with creators or influencer-driven content
