Job Summary An IPD VIP Ward Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality, personalized, and confidential nursing care to VIP patients admitted in the hospital. The role requires clinical excellence along with premium patient handling, privacy, and hospitality-oriented care.
VIP wards demand higher standards of comfort, communication, and service compared to general wards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Patient Care
- Monitor and assess patients’ health condition regularly
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments as prescribed
- Assist doctors during rounds and procedures
- Provide pre- and post-procedure care
- Maintain accurate nursing records and documentation
2. VIP Patient Handling
- Ensure privacy, dignity, and confidentiality of VIP patients
- Provide personalized attention and comfort care
- Coordinate special requirements (diet, room setup, attendants)
- Handle patient and family queries with professionalism
3. Communication & Coordination
- Communicate patient condition to doctors and senior staff
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (lab, pharmacy, housekeeping)
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment and discharge care
4. Admission & Discharge
- Perform admission, transfer, and discharge procedures
- Prepare patients for diagnostic tests and surgeries
- Ensure smooth discharge planning and documentation
5. Clinical & Emergency Duties
- Monitor vital signs and identify abnormalities
- Respond to emergencies and initiate basic life support
- Maintain infection control and safety protocols
6. Ward Management
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of VIP ward
- Manage inventory (medications, equipment, linens)
- Ensure availability of emergency equipment (crash cart)
7. Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate patient records and reports
- Follow hospital protocols, NABH/JCI standards
- Ensure confidentiality of patient information
8. Professional Responsibilities
- Provide emotional support to patients and families
- Participate in training, audits, and quality improvement
- Act as a role model and mentor for junior staff
Required Qualifications
- GNM / B.Sc Nursing
- Registered Nurse (RN) license
- BLS/ACLS certification preferred
Experience
- 1–3 years in IPD/ward nursing
- Experience in VIP ward preferred
