Job Summary An IPD VIP Ward Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality, personalized, and confidential nursing care to VIP patients admitted in the hospital. The role requires clinical excellence along with premium patient handling, privacy, and hospitality-oriented care.

VIP wards demand higher standards of comfort, communication, and service compared to general wards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Patient Care

  • Monitor and assess patients’ health condition regularly
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments as prescribed
  • Assist doctors during rounds and procedures
  • Provide pre- and post-procedure care
  • Maintain accurate nursing records and documentation

2. VIP Patient Handling

  • Ensure privacy, dignity, and confidentiality of VIP patients
  • Provide personalized attention and comfort care
  • Coordinate special requirements (diet, room setup, attendants)
  • Handle patient and family queries with professionalism

3. Communication & Coordination

  • Communicate patient condition to doctors and senior staff
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (lab, pharmacy, housekeeping)
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment and discharge care

4. Admission & Discharge

  • Perform admission, transfer, and discharge procedures
  • Prepare patients for diagnostic tests and surgeries
  • Ensure smooth discharge planning and documentation

5. Clinical & Emergency Duties

  • Monitor vital signs and identify abnormalities
  • Respond to emergencies and initiate basic life support
  • Maintain infection control and safety protocols

6. Ward Management

  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of VIP ward
  • Manage inventory (medications, equipment, linens)
  • Ensure availability of emergency equipment (crash cart)

7. Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate patient records and reports
  • Follow hospital protocols, NABH/JCI standards
  • Ensure confidentiality of patient information

8. Professional Responsibilities

  • Provide emotional support to patients and families
  • Participate in training, audits, and quality improvement
  • Act as a role model and mentor for junior staff

Required Qualifications

  • GNM / B.Sc Nursing
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • BLS/ACLS certification preferred

Experience

  • 1–3 years in IPD/ward nursing
  • Experience in VIP ward preferred
