About the role
Our Ontario Brokerage (under formation) expected to operate by Aug 1st,2026 at the earliest.
We are seeking a motivated Level 1 Insurance Broker to support our brokerage with day-to-day sales and service operations. This role is ideal for experienced L1 who is organized, client-focused, and eager to learn the full insurance workflow.
Responsibilities
- Prospect and generate new business (auto, home, tenant, commercial SME)
- Collect and verify client information for accurate submissions
- Generate quotes using Power Broker BMS and CSIO real-time API quoting across multiple carriers
- Prepare and present insurance proposals to clients — explaining coverage, deductibles, and exclusions clearly
- Provide Quotes to incoming callers and/or web leads for potential new Business Sales
- Document and follow up on leads
- Assess and qualify risks according to brokerage and underwriting companies’ rules and guidelines to determine acceptance, placement and Carrier
- Present coverage recommendations, Close Sales and bind policies
- Issue certificates of insurance and proof of insurance documents
- Maintain accurate client files and documentation for compliance
- Log every client interaction as an Activity in Power Broker (call, email, SMS) — same day
- Follow the renewal diary to proactively contact clients 60–90 days before policy expiry
- Service existing clients (policy changes, endorsements, renewals, cancellations, claims support, new business submissions)
- Support claims intake — log claims in BMS, provide clients with carrier contact info, follow up on claim status
- Conduct Policy Reviews to ensure that Insureds are adequately protected with the appropriate coverages Cross-sell and upsell additional coverage products
- Meet and exceed monthly production targets: new quotes, conversion rate, and renewal retention
- Work collaboratively with the Principal Broker on complex client needs and coverage recommendations and also with all support team
- Maintain RIBO continuing education requirements (minimum credits per RIBO annual renewal) Understanding of Ontario auto, home, and commercial insurance fundamentals
- Sales mindset — you enjoy asking for the business and following up until you get an answer
- Complete mandatory SABS auto reform training
- Strong client service and communication skills — comfortable on phone, email, and SMS
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills — you live by your diary and your to-do list
- Meet licensing, compliance, and documentation standards.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish/Punjabi/Italian/Arabic/Mandarin/Portuguese or Urdu) is a strong asset for our multicultural Ontario market
Qualifications
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Clean criminal record check (required for RIBO registration)
- RIBO license in good standing
- Minimum of 2-5 years’ personal and or commercial lines brokerage experience (home, auto, SME)
- Secondary School diploma or equivalent
- Strong Sales Closure of new Quotes to Policy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self-starter with the ability to meet Sales goals
- Self-motivated with a hunter mentality
- Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively
- Strong knowledge of Personal Lines Commercial SME, Auto and Property Insurance
- Experience with multiple markets in Ontario
- Exceptional customer relationship management skills
- A team player and have the ability to work without supervision
- Comfortable working in a commission-driven environment
- Comfortable with technology — Power Broker BMS, RingCentral VoIP, Zoho CRM, Microsoft Outlook
Preferred Skills
- Prior experience with Power Broker or other Broker Systems
- Ability to work in a diverse team environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Software (Word, Excel etc.)
- CIP designation an asset but not required
