We’re looking for a

Commissioning Editor to join our growing team and help shape the next generation of standout books from India and beyond.

What You’ll Do:

As Commissioning Editor, you’ll be at the heart of our publishing program—identifying, acquiring, and shaping manuscripts that align with our editorial vision.

Your core responsibilities will include:

• Scouting & Acquiring:

Identify exciting new voices and high-potential manuscripts in fiction and nonfiction. Build relationships with literary agents, authors, and writing communities.

• Editorial Development:

Collaborate with authors on structural edits and creative development, ensuring manuscripts are publication-ready and resonate with our audience.

• List Management:

Shape and curate your own publishing list, aligned with our brand values and seasonal publishing goals.

• Strategic Collaboration:

Work closely with marketing, design, and production teams to position titles effectively and drive successful launches.

• Industry Engagement:

Stay updated on market trends, bestselling genres, and global publishing developments to inform acquisitions and reader demand.

Who You Are

• 7-10 years of editorial experience in trade publishing, preferably with a focus on acquiring and developing titles.
• Passionate about storytelling, with a keen eye for compelling writing and strong editorial instincts.
• Comfortable working across genres and formats, from commercial fiction to literary and creative nonfiction.
• Strong communicator with a collaborative mindset and an ability to guide authors with empathy and insight.
• Highly organized, deadline-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Enthusiastic about championing diverse voices and inclusive storytelling.

Bonus if you:

• Have a strong network in the Indian publishing and literary community.
• Have experience working with debut authors and developing them from the ground up.
• Are familiar with both traditional and digital publishing models.
