Job Description
You will be leading the legal department of Cond Nast India, reporting to the VP International and closely collaborating with the India MD and Director of Finance. Your responsibilities include:
- Leading and managing the India legal team, mentoring and supervising team members
- Providing pragmatic, commercial, and strategic legal advice to the India leadership team
- Advising on legal matters like intellectual property, litigation, commercial contracts, data privacy, employment, corporate governance, and regulatory matters
- Anticipating and responding to new legislation, interpreting legal and regulatory developments for the business
- Managing external legal resources for comprehensive and cost-efficient legal support
- Building rapport with key stakeholders, including global stakeholders and the India leadership team
- Ensuring global initiatives are compliant with local laws
- Reporting legal matters effectively from India market teams to Cond Nast HQ leadership team
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum 10 years post-qualification experience in an in-house legal environment at a senior level
- Expertise in corporate law and India regulatory compliance
- Preferable expertise in employment and intellectual property
- Experience in delivering legal services in a major multinational corporation
- Experience in global compliance programs
- Experience in legal team management, budgeting, and reporting
- Demonstrated leadership, project management skills, and ownership of projects
- Proficiency in English
